We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Thriver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay, let’s start with a hypothetical. What advice would you give to someone facing insurmountable odds?
I would tell them to keep pushing forward in the hope of a better tomorrow. Because it has to get better eventually. Storms don’t last, the sun will shine again. And that’s for, in any situation. Pain and struggle are just a part in the story, it’s not the ending, but just that small beginning. And Just to take a deep breath and push forward in confidence knowing God is going to work it all out because he’s a Conductor.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets us apart is our Story. We are excited about the future because we plan on being apart of it. I’ve gotten this far with knowledge and experience gained over the years. I continue to sharpen my mind with daily reading and meditation. Nothing comes easy, if it does it’s probably not that valuable. I’ve learned patience and focus. Things may not always go as planned, but you have to learn to stay on the path and adjust along the way to your wanted destination. Thrive is a company that’s about an upward trajectory. When I was 18 years of age in 2009, I read the newspaper one day and it spoke of a coming depression that’s on its way. I sensed the section was trying to bring fear or that’s the way I took it. So I said to myself that I am going to THRIVE. It struck a chord within me and I changed my rap name from J to Thriver. So in 2020 with the sweeping pandemic still in play, I want the world to know that we will thrive in the midst of tragedy. We are a defiant company, people, and nation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we wasn’t quarantining and this friend was to come visiting my area. I would take them to the park trail, we would walk, run, and enjoy the trees and mother nature all while burning calories. Later we would check out a museum, because that’s always a vibe. Catch a new movie at the Movie Grill. And chill out at a hookah bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost God has guided me to where I am today. He’s brought me so far. And I don’t think I would have, could have made it without my Spirituality. Second my Mom & Dad, I’m just inspired by the fact I represent both of them and are quite like them in a lot of ways. And lastly my family and the world keep me going to make an all-around difference and be an inspiration to all to go after their dreams.
