We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmin Edmond and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmin, why did you pursue a creative career?
Well at a birthday party I did for my daughter my sister’s best friend told me how everything looked so nice and how I took the theme of the party and brought it to life. Then she says “Jazz you need to make this a business. You do so awesome planning these things”. That was in 2015 and every since then I’ve been on a roll.
What should our readers know about your business?
I would like to think that I’m the only single mother that works a full time job, come home make sure the kids has done what was asked of them and clock in ay Jazzy’s Décor, but in all reality I’m not LOL. I took me along time to get where I am today. 5 years ago I sat a my mother’s kitchen table an told her that I wanted to start my own business. Her words to me was “you can do it and whatever you need me to do I’m here”. It was not easy getting started and plans for my business NEVER fell through. It wasn’t until this year 2020 that I actually stepped out on faith and did what needed to be done. I have learned that you can’t always depend on another individual that is in the same field, and the reason why I say that is because they don’t want to show or teach their tricks and trades of the business because they don’t want to feel like you’re going to outdo them. What I want the world to know about Jazzy’s Décor & More brand is that creativity comes from a creative soul.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being that there is a pandemic going on there isn’t much that I could do. However it would be a party the entire weekend, so I would rent an Airbnb and have my dad and my cousin make their famous punch. I would actually do all the cooking (Breakfast/Brunch, Lunch, Dinner) and if they are my best friend they would pretty much know everyone I know, and just to get out the house I would take them to The Union Kitchen(I love their Mimosas) and The Lincoln Bar on Washington Ave.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well first I wouldn’t be able to do anything without God! He is the source behind my talent. Then there is my parents Monica & Roz Edmond, my spiritual parents Bishop & First Lady Jasper, my siblings Joslyn & Roland Edmond, my bonus sister Jana Rodgers and I can’t for get my beautiful children Tannhor & Tylon. They are the reason why I strive to be the best. My mentor Shameka Holmes. Last but not least my boyfriend. These people not only push me they encourage me even when I feel like I cant do it.
