We had the good fortune of connecting with Jean Quila and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jean, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I value my time, freedom to do what I love and improve myself in the process. It is very rewarding as it is challenging to run a business but I would not do it any other way.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to work on any kind of style but my favorite is vanguardism, I am proud about the interviews I have had on magazines from my country Ecuador. I think every designer is unique and artistic in many ways but I have found that in my case the more I challenge the status quo of trendy interior design the more timeless and unique my creations get. People appreciate the exclusivity and the attention to details.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way have definitely shaped who I am today, challenges are great mentors. It was not easy but very fun no doubt.
It might sound cliché but really everything is possible. I have seen it first hand.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I can go with him to see the old downtown, parks, museums, good restaurants. Definitely enjoy the architecture of many interesting places.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother as she is being an immense support in my life.
