We had the good fortune of connecting with John Guerrero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process was basically “do something that you really enjoy doing.” I wanted to show my family that “it’s POSSIBLE to live out your dreams and goals only if you work harder then the next person chasing the same thing.” Being raised in an environment where you aren’t made to win is tough. So, a lot of my mindset was how could I make an impact and prove to myself that I can do my own thing. That I can be my own boss and run a company off of pure happiness and joy. I knew the feeling of working under someone so, I wanted to make sure that this company was a pure reflection of me as a person.Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, nothing in life is easy. If it is then I recommend you choose a different route. You know the old saying “easy come, easy go!” Trust me it’ll be worth it! How did I get to where I am right now? As a little boy I always knew I wanted to own something. Watching both my parents work extremely hard for years and going through the same routines wasn’t what I had in mind for my life. At a young age I knew I had to come up with something on how to have my own. Of course I had no clue. So, my career started in the construction field. Learning the basics and going through the process of not knowing what I was doing most of the time. (lol it’s apart of it) Then finally learning all I needed to learn to move forward in the company. That’s when I learned a HUGE lesson. Basically I got to big headed and felt as if the company couldn’t move unless I was there….which I was so wrong! I got fired and that’s when I learned “John you’re replaceable.” Then I started doing Uber and Lyft, which helped me with conversating with random customers/learning people. I actually really enjoyed that. I had so fun engaging with random people and sharing stories that meant the most. That’s when I knew I was some what ready to take on my company. So, I started. Of course it was rocky at first but I stuck with it. And that’s what brings me here today. Going on two years and loving it! I know remodeling homes is pretty common but, what sets us apart from everyone is us providing that love and care to each home and treating it as if it were our own. We love what we do. Our motto is “Striving to make a CUSTOMER, not a SALE.” We live by that, and truly mean it.If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First off as soon as my buddy’s lands from wherever we’re going to straight to “Pho saigon.” Then depending on how of a trip it was we would hang out at the house. Maybe have my wife cook or go to a club. Some of the clubs I enjoy going to and would defiantly take them to would be “Henke and Pilot, Bottle Blond, Jet Lounge, and Howl at the moon.” During the day we could stop by some malls like ” The Galleria, Memorial city, or the woodlands mall.” There is also “Discovery Green,” which is a huge park and a few sites to enjoy along the way. I also enjoy arcades such as “Dave & Buster’s, 1820 Lounge,” some batting cages, go-karts, and some pool. Restaurants that I would take my friends to would be “Buca Di Beppo, Mias, Taqueria Del Sol, Tacos Del Julio, 888, Shogun, and Cheesecake Factory.”Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost my Lord, Jesus Christ deserves ALL of my glory! Without him I am nothing! Next is my loving wife (Adrienne). She’s constantly pushing the best out of me and, such a wonderful mother to our children. A lot of what I do wouldn’t be possible without her! I love you, baby. I would like to shoutout to both my mom (Cruz), and dad (John) for rising, and loving me. Thank you for showing me a true definition of a hard worker! Thank you to all of my sons (Zachary, Ezra, and Drew). You boys push me to want more without even realizing it. I love you all. There has been so many people in my life that had something to do with my success. Friends and some family members. Thank you all very much and I love you all so much! This is for you all!!!
