We had the good fortune of connecting with Johnedra Walls Ledet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a multi business owner. I am owner of a phlebotomy school, and life coaching services, I’m a self-published author, actress, mentor, domestic violence survivor, I experienced homelessness, pooping on paper, urinating in cut off milk jugs, being a single parent, being lied on, lied to, overlooked, used and abused (physically, mentally and emotionally) with scars to show. I faced abandonment, dealt with rejection issues, family knowing what’s going on but turned the other cheek. But I made it, look at me now, I’m above the ground not under, not in jail or hell. I’m a first-time college graduate at the age of 44, I made it. No one has to ever say they are proud of me, I’m proud of me. I am proud of the resilience and determination I have shown throughout my journey. Despite facing numerous challenges, I have managed to rise above and create a successful and fulfilling life for myself. My art is a reflection of my experiences and serves as a platform to inspire and empower others.
What sets me apart from others is my unique ability to channel my pain and struggles into my artwork. Through my writing, acting, and mentoring, I am able to connect with others who have faced similar hardships and show them that there is hope for a better future.
Getting to where I am today has not been easy. I have had to overcome countless obstacles, both external and internal. But I refused to let my circumstances define me. Instead, I used them as fuel to propel myself forward. I sought out education and training, and I pursued my passions with unwavering determination.
Along the way, I have learned valuable lessons about resilience, self-belief, and the power of perseverance. I have learned that it is important to surround myself with a supportive community and to never be afraid to ask for help. I have also learned the importance of self-care and prioritizing my own well-being.
Ultimately, my goal is to use my art to create a positive impact in the world. I want to inspire others to never give up, to find their voice, and to rise above their circumstances. My brand and story are a testament to the fact that no matter where you come from or what you have been through, you have the power to create a bright and fulfilling future for yourself.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dedicated to my loving and supportive family, especially my three wonderful children Ishmael, Corinthian, and Destiny. Your love and encouragement have been the driving force behind my success. I am also grateful for my amazing husband Joshua Ledet, who has been my rock and source of inspiration. To my sister Joycelyn Walls, thank you for always being there for me. A heartfelt shoutout goes to my friend to the end, Candace Bradley Green, for your unwavering support and friendship. To my favorite cousin Rodger Shields (Jr), your presence and support mean the world to me. Lastly, I want to dedicate this shoutout to my late grandmother, Bennie Mae Lee, for instilling in me the values of love and resilience. And to my father Rickey Charles Gulley, your guidance and wisdom continue to shape me into the person I am today. Thank you all for being a part of my journey and for believing in me.
