We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanesha Pitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanesha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I decided to start my own business, I simply wanted to be happy, spend more time with my daughter, and have control of my time. I started String Hart during maternity leave, as a first time mom. After being home with my daughter for 6 months, I never missed a milestone, a doctor appointment, a coo, a smile, or a roll, and I knew I never wanted to. Returning to work meant missing all the things I loved most about being a mom. I started to consider what the best business ideas were that would make me happy, make a difference, and allow me to be a full-time stay at home mom. My natural talent is in art, so without relying on any certifications, degrees or a third party, I started my business on my natural talent with a mission become household name and well respected for my work.

Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
The road to String Hart hasn’t been an easy one. It was beautifully decorated with a few career changes, major spinal surgery, depression and failing forward. I failed forward into a dream I always had as a child and finally dared to go after. The idea of being a fulltime artist was always a thought, but the fear of being a “struggling artist” kept me from ever taking a chance at my natural talent. String Hart has been so rewarding. I’ve created works of art that bring tears to peoples eyes. Art that fills a room with laughter, sparks conversation and takes people’s breath away. Art that bring families together. I’m excited to create art that makes a difference. What sets me apart from others is, I don’t create art that collects dust waiting to find a home. My art has a home before it’s ever created. I sell the entire experience, and give my clients the unique gift of time and conversation to hear their vision, I listen to stories of their loved ones who’ve passed on, or stories of the ones who simply deserve their flowers while they’re still here. I take their vision, pair it with my artistic ability, and I create timeless works of art out of a wooden panel, string and nails. My string art portraits and unique designs bring happiness to homes. I couldn’t imagine a more rewarding career choice. I am most proud of never giving up on life, even when it got tough. I had a benign tumor removed from compressing my spinal cord in March of 2017. Prior to surgery, I had excruciating back pain, I started to lose function in my right hand, and my legs were progressively getting weaker. I thought I was tripping over things but soon learned that it was simply the effects of the tumor. After surgery, I wore a brace that extended from my neck to my lower back for months. I had to learn how to use my hands again. A the simple task of opening a door felt like trying to single handedly push a tractor-trailer. I am proud of getting past that period in my life. In the movie “Rocky” Rocky told his son, “it’s not how hard you get hit, it’s how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward”. Well, life hit me pretty hard, but I’m a fighter, I came back swinging and I’m going after every opportunity that God has in store for me. I’ve learned that simply waking up everyday isn’t living. Tap into your talents, your deepest desires, and create a life around your dreams. String Hart was once a dream and now its a reality that’s not only changing the world, but inspiring the thousands of followers that support my vision.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the Jersey Shore, we’d have to start with breakfast at Duffers’ in Wildwood, NJ. Its just about the coolest breakfast spot you’ll ever eat at. Duffers’ has the most beautiful vintage feel and the best part is, you can order a tower of ice-cream with your waffles for breakfast. Who wouldn’t want to start their morning with ice cream? We would eat there every morning. Wildwood has the best boardwalk, tons of carnival games, water rides and we’d probably stuff our faces with funnel cake every chance we get. That week, we would have to plan a beach day. I would take her to what we call The Sandbar. Its a secluded patch of sand out in the ocean, like a private beach. The Sandbar is only accessible by boat. A day spent there is like a day in paradise. We would definitely go shopping at the outlets in Atlantic City, squeeze in few comedy shows or attend a concert . We would then end our nights having dinner with all the wild animals in the Rainforest Cafe, delicious lobster at Phillips, tasty Asian cuisine at Buddakan and the worlds best crab cakes at The Crab Trap. This would be a week full of fun, adventure and and quality time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my mother Pauline. My mothers prayers have opened more doors for me than I could ever imagine. My mom is one of my biggest cheerleaders and a walking billboard for my art. She brags about my art everywhere and to everyone. I get a phone call at least 3 times a week that sounds something like this “Hey hunny. I just spoke to a sweet lady at work, I showed her your work, and she’s blown away. Expect a call from her later today, she’s interested in 3 portraits of her cat”. There are days when I’m mentally and physically drained from working around the clock and her phone calls, and unending support give me the drive to keep going. Thank you mom! Id also like to dedicate this shoutout to my even bigger support, my love, Tyrone. To the man that works tirelessly to support our home, the leader and protector of our little family, thank you. Thank you for supporting my dreams and allowing our family to have a chance at changing the world through my gift. The gift that you take the time to help nurture, the gift that you speak life into. Thank you for your leadership and your support. I love you. Lastly, my family, friends and my followers. I hold the talent but you all keep me going. Without your fuel of love and support, I wouldn’t be here right now. Thank you.
