We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Rashun and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonathan, why did you pursue a creative career?
Over the years I’ve gravitated towards music and creative writing because it makes me happy. I feel most alive and at home when I am creating.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe my art and art in general speaks for itself. My passion for the craft of writing and making music is what drives me. It reflects my passion for life. First and foremost acknowledgement of the highest power and the powers that have aided me along the way. Our lives are based in interdependence so without the provisions that are often unseen and endless that helps sustain life I would not be. Passion, consistency, and perseverance is what got me to where I am today. And also the drive to be more positive, insightful, and to constantly grow into my true being. I’ve come to a point to where I have shed many ideas of who I am in efforts to reach the core of who I am. It all reflects in my works. There are always going to be challenges in life. I think the key is to develop a mature perspective to know that overall every obstacle serves the purpose of bringing out a better version of self. Along the journey of success, I learned to simply be myself. I prefer to attract the things that I truly desire authentically. I also learned to follow my intuition, and invest more into self even in doubt. In any aspect of life, investing in self could never go wrong. With my brand I like to promote encouragement, positivity, and inspiration. I want those that are struggling with whatever phase they are in life to know that they are not alone and they have a purpose along with the unique gifts and abilities to bring about its fulfillment. For those that struggle with finding purpose just ask yourself what are you most passionate about. What can you do effortlessly and full of enjoyment?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say Discovery Green to get some fresh air and enjoy a little space. I would take them down Almeda to go shopping and eat Vegan Food. We can hit the beach. Depending on what you are into Houston has many exciting things to get into. A lot of food fun activities. Too many to count. At some point I would just play it by ear.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course I would like to dedicate this shout out to my mother and father, Mary Edmonds, and Willie Jackson. And also my Aunt Cynthia Edmonds. In their loving memory.
