We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan “JoJo” Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan “JoJo”, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my brand is RESEARCH. Aside from being enrolled at Webster University for marketing and advertising communication, I am an avid researcher on how to increase my brand. Whether that be how to beat the algorithms of social media, building my readership, how to engage your following better, etc. Additionally, I watch YouTube videos a brand building, and maintenance along with the video aesthetic. Learning what type of equipment is necessary to bring not only my vision to life but to provide QUALITY content for the readers of my blog and the views of my podcast.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When it comes to my work, blogging, or podcasting, I think what sets me apart is simply being me. I don’t follow the typical lifestyle aesthetic when it comes to my brand. Don’t get me wrong, it looks amazing, but I think people gravitate to real people with real relatable issues. That’s what I enjoy talking about. I LOVE talking about my favorite lipstick but I’d rather tell you about my personal struggles and how I’ve overcome that with the hope of inspiring someone else. That truly is my bottom line, to be an inspiration. My story to get here has NOT been perfect in any capacity but being strong, preserving through those obstacles, and learning from the situation, in my opinion, matters way more. Which in turn has gotten me to where I am today and what I’m most proud of. Aside from my Voyage Houston feature of course. 🙂

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is honestly so hard for me because I can be a homebody lol but I’d say head to Grooves on Friday for sure to hit up happy hour. It’s a whole vibe. 1/2 price drinks, fire music, great crowd. Prospect park – Fountainview is also a great lounge spot. Different days determine what kind of crowd you’ll run into but I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. One of my recent favorite restaurants I would suggest is Mikki’s Soulfood Cafe’ to grab some oxtails and finish the trip with either a trip to Galveston to walk the beach OR chill downtown at Discovery Green.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Someone who deserves recognition for assisting with my story is another lifestyle blogger named, Jazmyn Daigle. She honestly is the reason I’m in the blogging industry. Before I began Love Always, Jojo, I was very unfamiliar with the blogging industry from a professional standpoint but I loved how highly she spoke about her process, the connections she’d made, and her overall journey. One day while volunteering, I expressed interest and said I was considering it and she simply said, “DO IT!” and I took off. When I was insanely inspired she was encouraging me and when I lacked inspiration she understood me and told me to take my time. It was better to put out GREAT work than fluff because readers can tell difference. I’ve had and have so many supportive people in this industry but she is truly my A1 since day1.
