We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Schniers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julie, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The power of making people the priority is not only a passion of mine, but a game changer when it comes to leveling up any organization or company. I was always known as for running a great team, but it took me years to realize what made my team different from others in my space. Our success wasn’t just driven my talent, money, and work ethic. Our success was driven by taking care of the people on my team. The next question I had to ask was what were the difference makers? I combed through 13 years teams with a wide variety of types of individuals and heard the same answers over and over again. Communication, connection, and confidence were the differences makers. We are a box checking, to-do list making, objective seeking society. What we too often fail to remember are the power of the people who are checking those boxes. If we flip our focus to our people first, it makes all the difference. How do you do that? What actually helps drive success, builds team culture, solidifies retention, and more? Communication. Connection. Confidence. Those 3 C’s are the core of every workshop, keynote, and strategic planning session I build. They are the powerful culture builders that create change and help teams level-up.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From the hospital system to law firms, to school districts, the military, the fast-food industry…the tie that binds us all together is people. We all have pieces of us that we bring to work every single day. Pieces from our past, our home life, our personal struggles, our dreams, and our individual needs in order to just show up as our best self. Helping the people in your space show up as their best and most self takes communication and connection. I know that being a people person isn’t easy for everyone. I know building quality lines of communication and relationships that create successful teams can be a challenge, but it’s what my heart loves.

Something I have learned along this path is that I may be better at other people than I am myself. It has been a reminder of how important it can be to have people who believe in you and see you for your strengths close by to keep you moving forward. I have also learned through building my business that nothing is easy so you might as well let yourself dream, show up bravely, and pursue boldly. Action isn’t even an option without a dream so dare to ask what if before you get caught in the planning. The plan will come if your heart can believe in the dream. Then step out with a bravery that show you believe enough in you to bravely step forward. The reality is, if you don’t believe in yourself, you can’t expect anyone else to. And although being bold isn’t always easy, nothing wonderful will come without action. You’re going to get what you give. You want big, be bold. I am proud of the bold moves I have made since I started speaking, consulting, and coaching, but I will be the first person to tell you that I haven’t done it alone. I am so thankful for my people.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my very favorite things about what I get to do is travel to speak and work with all kinds of different teams. Texas is a great place with so many incredible businesses and organizations. The opportunity to work in so many great cities, with such a wide variety of groups has been such a gift. I hope to keep expanding to new spaces and new audiences, but with the same great mission.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In honor of every student that I taught to fight fiercely to follow their dreams, to the students who pushed me to believe in myself like I believed in them, to the teachers who built me up when I wasn’t confident in who I was, to my family and friends who keep cheering me on in this journey, and to my kids who I hope forever feel bravery is a comfortable piece of who they are…THANK YOU.
