We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Mazurkewicz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Justin, how does your business help the community?
Many people have too much stuff in their lives or don’t know how to incorporate the stuff they have into their homes. Our process of decluttering, coaching clients, and setting up organized systems really lifts a burden from our clients. It gives them a fresh starting point in their space that is easy to maintain over time. When we help pack and unpack for moves, again, a huge burden is lifted as we are able to bring simplicity and peace of mind.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Clutter King is a team of professional organizers. We help people declutter and organize their homes and businesses. Founded by myself, at first it was just me organizing garages. Clients would ask if I could come back to organize another part of their home and business grew to the point I knew I’d have to leave my day job if I really wanted to pursue Clutter King. For a couple years, I had been trying to budget and plan my way out of my day job so I could give my business and clients the time they deserve. With a family, mortgage and car notes, this was not an easy transition. I listen to motivational speakers, and one day on the way to my job, I heard Tony Robbins say that if you want to seize the island, you have to burn your boats. The things you are stuck in that make you comfortable. That most people, when put in the position of sinking or swimming, will swim. I knew this about myself, so that morning I gave my 2-week notice. We’ve never regretted that or looked back. Today we are a small team and growing fast! We offer a high degree of professionalism, empathy and efficiency and that makes us leaders in our industry.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston and the surrounding area that it has swallowed up is massive. You can drive 2 hours and still be in Houston. We have every culture, restaurant, and activity you can think of, except perhaps skiing. When people think of going to the beach, they usually think of Galveston, which is is a nice place. But just a short ferry ride away is Crystal Beach, which has the best sand, water and true beach-vibe. You can camp on the beach or rent a house! We have a great Museum District, and a fun Theatre District. If you travel North from Houston, you will quickly be in the pine trees, which offer some great camping spots.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to the various mentors I’ve had along the way who have taken the time to show an interest in what we do and have opened our eyes to both weak points and opportunities. Thank you to all our clients who give us their trust every day, and to our team of organizers that work hard to help people with their spaces.
