We had the good fortune of connecting with K.A.Y.O Da Konspiracy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi K.A.Y.O, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I feel risk are necessary in anything you do. My reason for saying this is because every aspect of your life is a risk. Rather you’re giving your heart to someone or going out on the limb to pursue your dreams. Either way, we must break out of a comfort zone. We must learn something new, rather it’s learning about your partner or a new trade to push your dreams into becoming a reality. I had to really become more communicative and open with my music. I had to learn how to sale, I never was great at sales, until I decided to stop being introverted. I learned how to approach people and be welcoming to the individuals I cross paths with. Risk are definitely a necessity in any and everything you do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an hip-hop artist. I’ve been rapping for majority of my life. Rap was all I knew in my youth. I decided to fully pursue my music with no support of a job, in May 2020. I knew my gift was different from others, because my lyricism always captivated individuals and was able to place them into the lyrics or stories I was rapping about. I am most proud of dropping an album that many consider to be a classic. I am proud that I am able to continue to keep the hand to hand CD’s sales alive in a era where streams are predominate! It definitely has been a task to manage, but I’ve overcome the obstacles of being able to capitalize off of a old practice and making it new in a sense, to a era that’s unfamiliar with the art of selling yourself. I’ve learned to be more open with strangers. I learned that a lot of us in this chaotic world share a very similar story. Most importantly the people who don’t know you will value you and cherish you the most. I want the world to know that any and everything is possible! Allow God to guide you and you’ll never be steered wrong! Inspire others to reach their dreams and always remember the sky is the limit!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to Turkey Leg Hut, Caraba Italian restaurant, The Rustic, The graffiti wall, the local seat, Fuzzy’s open mic. Lilly’s and Blooms. A lot of these places to me personally are filled with excitement.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
