We had the good fortune of connecting with Kadijah Balance and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kadijah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
In life, I find that it’s important to take risks. If I would’ve never taken the risk of moving to Houston, not really knowing where I would live, or what I would do for work, I would have never been pushed to achieve one of my greatest dreams in life, becoming a real estate agent.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So this journey was not an easy one. I wouldn’t say, I’m someone who has had an easy life. I can say that I’m someone who has a blessed life. I am resilient, and I never give up in the face of adversity. When it came to taking my real estate license, I took the test twice in Chicago and failed both times now usually someone would say maybe this isn’t the job for me. Maybe I should look into something else, but I knew that this is what I was meant to do so when I moved to Houston, I gave it one more go and I passed on my first try! This is just a story that pretty much tells you if you want something go after it, work hard and never give up. I know that sounds so cheesy and cliché but it’s the honest truth and it’s my truth.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So being new to Houston, I don’t have all the most happening spots, but I can say a few of my favorites are the galleria. I love the restaurants inside the galleria and looking at all the beautiful stores and the night life industry. I have never heard of an after hours before I moved to Houston and that just is a club that’s open later than most clubs, clubs here in Houston don’t close till like six or eight in the morning and I’ve never been around that other than when I visited Miami.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give credit to everybody who has helped me along the journey. I was placed in the foster care system at the age of nine up until the age of 16 when I was adopted and have been able to live with, and meet some of the most incredible families that have instilled their traditions, morals and values into my life. I also want to give a personal shout out to Sena Clark with HairByHoneyy who showed me firsthand what it takes to be an entrepreneur and run a successful business. I want to give a personal shout out to Mike Lawry who showed me how beautiful and luxurious Chicago is and how to conduct myself around politicians and business people. Each and every one of these people have molded me into the beautiful, successful young woman I am today and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. I wouldn’t be who I am today without all of these amazing people.

I want to give credit to Juston Braden who even made my real estate career possible he is an incredible team leader, who oversees the real estate team. I am a part of a real estate group called the Realetix Team. He’s done an amazing job creating and producing an incredible software that is unlike anything that’s ever been created for the real estate market. The software not only makes my job easier as a realtor, but it really breaks down the market for my clients and can show them equity opportunities, data analytics for the market that interests them and honestly so much more that I cannot fit into this interview it’s incredible and I use it at every single one of my open houses and client consultations.
