We had the good fortune of connecting with Karina Johnston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karina, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
To switch my mentality. I made myself stop waiting for the conditions to be favorable so I can start working on my dreams. Like many, I was stuck in the “when I finish college/move to a new place/get a new job…” mindset where you wait for a perfect moment to happen to launch you on your way. I had to start creating these conditions by educating myself, meeting new people and seeking opportunities! Next thing I know is that everything started to line up in front of me and since then I’m on my way!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
WOW Party Art is unique because we offer multiple event services what makes planning an event a little bit easier! Since we offer both event entertainment and decorations, you only have to coordinate with one person instead of multiple independent vendors. It allows us to make everything work perfectly and to make sure that we do great!

The most exciting thing is that we are constantly expanding and evolving, offering new services, streamlining what we already do and looking for new ideas! There’s a whole industry that helps people to celebrate important moments and that’s what makes us get more and more creative. Even though we have been consistently expanding for the last 2 years, there’s still a lot of new fun services that we are aiming to offer soon!

Starting a business from ground is not easy! I think, the most important factor behind the success of any business is consistency. You have to put a consistent effort into your work in order to reach an actual real-life result. You don’t have to move mountains or find amazing deals every day. Update your website, check on your clients, plan a new project, etc etc and it will all add up to bring your business forward! Another crucial thing is not to be afraid to take risks – I’m all about taking risks, both calculated and spontaneous. You will never know until you try. In the worst case you will end up with something that didn’t work out as planned originally but at least you found out its flaws and what needs to be changed to make it work. I wouldn’t be where I am if I wouldn’t have taken risks!

One of the main lessons I’ve learnt as a business owner is that you have to delegate work. You can’t grow if it’s only you doing all the work. There’s only so many hours in a day and you can only be at one place at a time. It was challenging to introduce new people into my business and teach them something that I was practicing and learning myself for years! However, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made because it helped us to grow!

WOW was created to help people make all the important moment memorable! Life is full of beautiful events and occasions and we love helping our clients to create great time! No matter how big or small the event is – we always do our best!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
WOW is more than just one person! We would not be able to do what we do without our talented artists! They do their best at every event and every party to make sure that the guests are accommodated and happy whether they are getting face painted, playing with a balloon animal or having their caricature drawn!

I also would love to thank all our amazing clients for letting us be a part of their celebrations and for trusting us with their events! We remember every client and every event that we did and it’s always a pleasure to hear back from our clients year after year!
