We had the good fortune of connecting with Karla Rosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karla, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor so far has been the use or real ingredients, nothing artificial, no additives, just the real deal. Every batch is made by hand with loads of passion and care and that automatically translates into a good product. People are not dumb, they recognize when they are eating something that is real, and not artificial, full of sugar and weird stuff.

People appreciate knowing what’s in their food these days, and we’ve got their back with our commitment to quality. It’s not just about a tasty ice pop; it’s about trust, you know?

Sure, we’re doing alright, but we’re always tweaking things to make ’em even better. We’re just getting started, really and I think we are still a long way to success.

What should our readers know about your business?
Well, let me tell you about Wonder Pops – they’re not your average frozen treats. What sets us apart? It’s our commitment to quality and flavor that really shines through. We use only the freshest seasonal fruits, absolutely no additives or artificial coloring, and each pop is handcrafted with a whole lot of love and passion. That’s what makes Wonder Pops stand head and shoulders above the rest.

I’m incredibly proud of the product we’ve created and the fact that our community is starting to recognize our brand, specially in The Heights area. Seeing the joy on people’s faces when they take that first delicious bite – that’s what keeps me going. And getting to this point in the business hasn’t been a walk in the park, let me tell you. There have been challenges every step of the way.

But you know what they say, nothing worth having comes easy. We’ve faced our fair share of hurdles, from finding places (e.g. Farmers Markets) that would be willing to have our product, to build brand awareness in a competitive market. But we are slowly working our way to overcome them, with creativity, and a whole lot of hard work.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned on this journey is the importance of staying true to your vision. It’s easy to get sidetracked or discouraged when things don’t go according to plan, but staying focused on what truly matters – creating an exceptional product – has been key to our success.

What do we want the world to know about Wonder Pops? That we’re passionate about making high quality frozen desserts, and most importantly supporting local initiatives, whether it’s through school fundraisers, community events, or other charitable endeavors. It’s our way of giving back and making a positive impact wherever we can. With a all natural ice pop.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Houston for a week, I’d ensure they had an unforgettable experience immersing themselves in the diverse culture we have in Houston. We would indulge in crawfish during the season and sample the eclectic cuisine, particularly in Chinatown, in places like Tiger Den and Crawfish and Noodles. Exploring landmarks like NASA’s Space Center Houston and taking a scenic drive to Round Top would add a dash of adventure to our itinerary. We’d also make time to appreciate the natural beauty of Hermann Park and Memorial Park, perhaps with a leisurely bike ride or a relaxing picnic. We would go have Texas barbecue in places like Pinkertons and have some Tex-Mex cuisine for sure. It would be a week filled with laughter, exploration, and unforgettable memories in this dynamic and welcoming city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, there are a few people who deserve a shoutout in this journey of mine. First and foremost, my husband deserves a big round of applause. Despite juggling a full-time job, he somehow manages to lend a hand with everything outside of actually making the ice pops. From crunching numbers in the accounting department to spreading the word through marketing efforts, he’s been a rock, allowing me to focus on what truly matters: creating an exceptional product. I couldn’t do it without him.

And then there’s my mom. She’s been my unwavering support system since day one. During those grueling nights of ice pop production when we were just starting out, she was there by my side, lending a helping hand and offering words of encouragement. Without her love and support, the journey would have been twice as tough, no doubt about it.

So, here’s to my incredible husband and my amazing mom. They’ve been my pillars of strength throughout this adventure, and I’m endlessly grateful for everything they do. Cheers to them!
