We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Villanueva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I think my drive to be the best version of myself is crucial to my success. I don’t ever want to settle. I want to continue growing, learning, and putting in the work to succeed – both personally and professionally. In doing so, I want to be an example to my two daughters that with hard work and perseverance you can make things happen in your life. It’s not easy at all, but it has been my personal goal to be more than just a ‘mom’, a ‘wife’, a ‘Realtor’ and put in one box. Today I can fortunately say that I am all of those things, and more.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Real estate is a business based on people, relationships. I focus on building those relationships and being a trusted partner for each client as they navigate one of the biggest financial transactions of their life. I help them find home. I also enjoy helping my clients with design and decorating ideas to help them really see the potential of a space and what it could be.
Getting to where I am today has not been easy. Life is chaotic for everyone, as there are always many moving parts. Trying to establish and grow a career while raising small children is the definition of chaos, but I’m a big believer in continuous growth and not settling, so I had to force myself to break through the internal constraints and barriers that I was putting on myself. I have found that once you get your mindset in the right place, everything else falls in line.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I really love the vibe of the Heights! It has a charm that you just don’t get in many other places. I always take friends there for really great for brunch options, but there are endless dining and hangout spots. Downtown, I love going to Market Square Park which is surrounded by amazing places to eat and lots of cool bars. CityCentre is a great option in the Memorial area, as you can park and spend an entire day walking to shop, eat, and grab some cocktails.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, I’ve been so lucky to be surrounded by strong women throughout my life who have definitely inspired me, whether they know it or not. My mom showed me how to be an independent woman, as she can truly do EVERYTHING. I have a wonderful group of girlfriends who support each other and have been through really hard times together, and so we know it’s important to celebrate the little things. And of course, my husband, who motivates me and supports all my dreams; who lets me be me.
