We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendrick Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendrick, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started in 2003 as a teachers aide working in special education. I graduated in 2008 and I began my career as a special education teacher, district level employee, and my current role as an Assistant Principal since 2016. Throughout these years, I focused building countless relationships with others. As I grew into my role as an administrator, I realized that the wellness of the members of community is essential to the success of the child, the school and the community itself. This is why I began my channel KT TeeV. I want to connect resources to the community which makes homes better which in turn makes schools better. Healthy home/healthy community

What should our readers know about your business?
KT TeeV is a media company started in 2019 that highlights Educators, Entrepreneurs, and happenings in the city of Houston. I have the Ktteev Youtube channel with several thousand followers, a weekly podcast called The Daily K on ktteev.com at 6pm every Saturday and The KT TeeV Radio Show from 3-5 on Sundays. Ive published several articles on building a healthy school and healthy community. from here in Texas to Arizona to Florida. I just published my first book which is a reflection of my podcast episodes. I released volume 1 on NYE. My first day of 2021 I was an amazon best seller and number 1 new release. I think the biggest challenge in my business was learning how to do all this myself. Before July 1st 2019 I never thought about media or interviews or Youtube. I figured I was going to through so much pain from losing my brother and my friend so close together that I didn’t have time to sit and learn, I simply had to get the pain out. I was sure the channel was going to be my outlet so once I committed, instead of waiting until it was perfect I learned on the job…literally. My first podcast didn’t have video only a microphone between my friend and I. So the real challenge of learning all of this and doing it all myself from booking to editing to posting to marketing has been a challenge. Here I am though! One of the biggest lessons Ive learned through all of this is the power of relationships and supporting others. In building this network there have been so many people Ive been able to call on for specialty work in their field. Our network is our net worth. Build those relationships and work together to create something better than ourselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not going to lie I am pretty low key when it comes to getting out in the city. If you don’t catch me at Frankenstiens having wings and watching the game, Im at top golf or dave and busters doing something competitive. Since moving to Houston I’ve lived in the west so any trip wouldn’t be complete without a stop by city centre to enjoy some Yard house or Mona Lisa.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to Geraldine Ashely and Garfield Hawkins. To people that were great people that helped me tremendously in life that lost the battle to Covid 19. This is for them.
