We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenia Miramontes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenia, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is resiliency, commitment, dedication, compassion, persistence, passion and having my own experience with acne. This allowed me to better understand my clients and relate to what they are going through so that I could better assist them in their skin care journey.
What should our readers know about your business?
Kalon Skin Studio is a skin care clinic that helps individual achieve their desired skin goals. We specialize in clearing acne and evening out the skin tone with clinical result driven treatments. We have helped many clients get clear skin in as little as 3 months. Our approach treats the body as a whole, we want for clients to feel empowered, beautiful, glowy, and refreshed. Beauty starts within and that is why our studio is name Kalon, which means beauty is more than skin deep.
Was it easy? Haha definitely not, I don’t come from a business background and had just moved to a new city where I knew absolutely no one, plus we dealt with a shut down due to covid. The future for skin clinics was quite unknown in this last year, but we made it. I think it’s important to pivot and be opened to new ways of doing things. There was lots of days where I felt I was doing all the right things to move my business forward and then there were days where it seemed that everything I did was failing. I had to put fear aside, take risks, get comfortable with being uncomfortable and challenge myself. I used as many resources and did as much research as I could to overcome my obstacles. Doing what you love gives you the fuel you need to keep going because entrepreneurship definitely tests you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I my best friend was visiting and I wanted to show her a great time I would take her to Cuchara for Brunch, my absolute favorite. I would take her go-karting to MSR Houston, Rock climbing to Texas Rock Gym, dinner at Xochi. I would also take her to the Crocodile Encounter in angleton, the Bayou Wildlife zoo in Alvin, Galleria. In & Out (yes I like In & Out lol), Lunacy Tacos for some Birria, Old Town Harrisburg for a little taste of Mexico, Post Houston, Buffalo Bayou Brewery, Present Company, some Sushi at Uptown Sushi, Centennial Gardens, to the I Love Houston sign at 8th Wonder Brewery, Galveston or Surfside Beach, FAO in midtown.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many to give credit to. I read lots books, listened to so many podcasts, watched YouTube videos, had coaches that guided me through it all as well. I definitely could not have done it alone or without all the resources that there is out there and for that I am extremely grateful. Some of the books that impacted my life and business the most was The Miracle Morning.
