We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly MacRae and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always known two things: 1) I wanted to be a wife and mother, and 2) I wanted to be a business owner. My parents owned their own business for 30 years, so I soaked it all in. As a child, I would play store owner and rearranged my entire room to look like a store, cash register and all! Fast forward to 2013. After trying baltic amber on our first son, I was amazed at how well it worked. I had just resigned from my position of almost six years to be a stay-at-home mom and thought that selling amber would be an excellent side hustle, to help make ends meet. I invested $1,200 of our savings into my first amber order, and I started selling to friends and family. Shortly after that, I started making custom jewelry, including crystals and pretty accents, to help make the amber look more stylish.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
MacRae Naturals is unique because we hire stay-at-home moms for our positions. We have social media moms, beading moms, shipping moms, customer service moms, and most of them working from the comfort of their own home, all across the United States. My dream is to continue to grow and expand while hiring more moms for our open positions. The idea is to give them a creative outlet while also earning extra money for their families. Starting a business was an easy task; keeping it running is the harder part. There are so many moving parts with MacRae Naturals that it requires a lot of organization and coordination among our team since most of us work remotely. I’m thankful that our team does an excellent job working together, and we all have a common goal of quality products, fast shipping, and top-notch customer service. I want people to know that when they purchase from us, they are receiving something handcrafted with extreme detail with quality stones, and should they have an issue, our customer service mama is there waiting to help. I want people to put confidence in us and our products and, most importantly, receive the relief they need, naturally!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a huge foodie, so I would take them on a food tour of the city, visiting my favorite restaurants. Anothai Cuisine, Pallotta’s Italian Grill, Bernie’s Burger Bus, and Jus’ Mac are a few of my favorites. We’d go to the galleria and shop and visit a concert at the Woodlands Pavillion.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
MacRae Naturals wouldn’t be where it is today without a few different people. First, God. Without his blessings, I would have nothing. Second, my husband, Cody. He has encouraged and supported me from the very beginning, doing anything he can to help me grow the business and encouraged me when I’ve needed it most. Finally, our MacRae Naturals Team. Each mom behind MacRae Naturals has invested their heart into the business, ensuring that we are successful as a company.
