We had the good fortune of connecting with Kish Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kish, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My decision to start my own business was deeply rooted in both personal and professional motivations. I’ve always been passionate about health and wellness, and over time, I saw an opportunity to combine esthetics with my passion. However, it wasn’t until a pivotal moment in my life, when my daughter gave birth to my first grandson, that the idea of building something lasting and meaningful became even more urgent.
Being there for that experience made me realize how important it is to ensure that the next generation, especially my grandson, has the opportunity to live a life with financial stability and autonomy. I wanted to create something that could provide that security for my family while also honoring and continuing the legacy of hard work and perseverance that has been passed down. Starting my own business felt like the best way to achieve that—a way to not only fulfill my own ambitions but to build a foundation for future generations.
What should our readers know about your business?
Opening Kish Elaine Aesthetics during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic was a decision rooted in a deep belief that we had a responsibility to our community, especially when so many businesses were closing their doors. I knew that people were struggling not just physically but mentally and emotionally, and I felt compelled to help them heal, find balance, and restore their sense of well-being. We were the first skincare and wellness spa in Manvel, TX, and I wanted to create a space where people could experience not only top-tier aesthetic treatments but also true wellness, something that goes beyond just beauty.
What sets us apart is our deeply personalized approach to every client experience. From the moment they walk through our doors, we customize their visit, starting with something as simple as their beverage choice to the music selection that will make them feel at ease. We take pride in offering a bespoke, clinical, corrective treatment plan that takes a holistic view of the person. We consider factors like stress levels, diet, and lifestyle choices as they can all contribute to skin and body imbalances. We don’t just perform aesthetic treatments—we educate our clients, helping them understand how their daily habits and overall health impact their skin, and we work together to make meaningful changes.
By treating the whole person, not just their skin, we are able to offer more than just a service—we offer an experience that supports their well-being and empowers them to feel their best, inside and out.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Manvel, TX, I’d want to show them the true charm of our community by supporting local businesses and enjoying the best that our area has to offer.
We would visit Honores Cajun Cafe for some authentic Cajun cuisine and fantastic margaritas .We also visit Manvel seafood to enjoy their amazing brunch, and Burger Barn for the best burgers and brisket baked potato in town. We would absolutely have to visit twin lakes to hang out at the lake!
By supporting small businesses throughout the week, we’d not only have an unforgettable experience but also help nurture the community that makes Manvel such a special place.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my journey, I’ve been deeply influenced by the hard work and resilience of the women in my family, especially my mother and my grandmother. My grandmother was a midwife, and I’ve always admired her dedication to helping others, often going above and beyond to ensure that families received the care they needed. My mother, who came to the mainland U.S. from Puerto Rico at the age of 18, didn’t speak English but was determined to create a better life for herself and her family. She worked tirelessly and eventually brought her other siblings over to join her. One of the most important lessons she taught me was that education is something no one can ever take away from you, and that it’s the key to unlocking opportunities. She instilled in me the belief that no matter the obstacles, hard work and perseverance could lead to success. This mindset drove me to work diligently to obtain my MBA, which became a foundational part of building my own career and, ultimately, my business. Their stories of strength and sacrifice continue to inspire me every day.
