Meet Kristi | SLP & Mom of 2

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristi, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
My kids! They are the reason I’m inspired to homeschool and do fun activities at home. I quit my fill time job in October 2023, and haven’t looked back since. I’m also inspired by all the other mom creators I’ve found along the way. There are so many talented moms who just want to be involved in their children’s education. We may be smaller creators, but we have built such a fun mom community!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a speech-language pathologist (SLP) by background. I have worked with kids in the past, but my current specialization is the geriatric community, which is the opposite most people assume, given my content is based around kids. I’ve been a SLP for almost 11 years, and did approximately 5 years in more of a management/leadership role. I quit my full time job in October 2023, but continue to work PRN (“as needed”) 1-2 days a week while my kids go to Mother’s Day Out. Its been a journey to get to where we are now, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. It took a lot of sacrifices to get to this point (goodbye Starbucks and leisurely spending!). My main focus is our family, and using my passion of teaching with my kids.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are so blessed in this community to have so many options, especially kid-friendly options. Most of my friends have kids, and we usually bring them along. One of our favorite places to eat when we have kids is Center Court Pizza & Brewery in Spring, TX because it has a full size, fenced in playground. Why isn’t this more common?? Add a playground to your restaurant, and you have my business! We also recently visited Atkinson Farms – so if the weather was nice, it’d be great to spend some time here with the family/kids. Another great option for outdoor entertainment is Paradigm Brewing Company in Tomball, TX – there’s literally fun for everyone there. There are also so many great indoor playgrounds to take advantage of during the heat of the summer. Some of our favorites (because they are more affordable) would be The Woodlands Children’s Museum & Fun ‘n Play in Cypress, TX.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It may sound cheesy – but God & my husband! I wouldn’t have been able to stay at home with my kids without our faith and support from my husband. He works so hard for us to be able to do our silly little lessons at home, and explore fun places around our area. His encouragement means so much to me, as he sees first hand how hard I work with our kids & how important it is to me.
