We had the good fortune of connecting with Lakisha Mosley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaKisha, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is by Tom Brady: “To be successful at anything, the truth is you don’t have to be special. You just have to be what most people aren’t; consistent, determined and willing to work for it.”

This quote resonates deeply with me because it reflects the essence of my mental health journey. Success, whether in life or business, isn’t about perfection or extraordinary talent—it’s about showing up, even on the hard days, and staying committed to your growth.

In my journey as a woman entrepreneur living with a mental health condition, consistency has meant sticking to the habits and practices that support my well-being, even when it felt difficult. Determination has been about refusing to let stigma or self-doubt define my path. And the willingness to work for it reminds me that prioritizing mental health requires intentional effort—it’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. This quote inspires me to embrace the process, honor my resilience, and help others do the same.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work is rooted in creating safe spaces and meaningful resources for women entrepreneurs who live with mental health challenges. Through my mental health community, Mind Your Business, I support Black women entrepreneurs in prioritizing their mental health while pursuing sustainable success in their businesses and lives. What sets my work apart is the deep connection I have with my audience—not just as a professional but as someone who shares their journey. I know what it feels like to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship while managing mental health, and I use that understanding to foster a sense of community, compassion, and empowerment.

What I’m most proud of is building a space where women feel seen, supported, and celebrated. I’m excited about expanding this mission through innovative offerings like digital products, live events, and a growing membership-based community. These efforts allow us to make mental health a priority in the entrepreneurial space, which is often overlooked.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. I’ve faced my own mental health struggles and moments of doubt. But I overcame those challenges by leaning into my faith, staying true to my vision, and consistently showing up for myself and others. I’ve learned that resilience isn’t about always having it together—it’s about allowing yourself the grace to grow through challenges while keeping your purpose in sight.

If there’s one thing I want the world to know about my brand and story, it’s this: Mental health and entrepreneurship can coexist. You don’t have to sacrifice your well-being to chase success. I’m living proof that when you prioritize your mental health, you build a foundation that empowers you to thrive—not just in business, but in life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting, we would visit all of my favorite food places. We like to experience culture but we also love to shop. We’ll probably take in a couple of movies and visit a museum. We’re eating at Grand Lux, Morton’s, LePeep and probably Texas Roadhouse just for the bread!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
After the year I’ve had, I dedicate this shoutout to ME! I’ve endured a lot and pushed through so much this year.
I do have to shoutout my tribe, Dr. Tyra Gardner, Dr. J Michelle Vann, Dr. Taj Burroughs and Sadija Smiley, just to share a few names. I also want to shoutout my children, Kaniecia and Kaylon for supporting and loving me through it all.
