We had the good fortune of connecting with Leola Abondano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leola, why did you pursue a creative career?
I didn’t always know I was going to pursue an artistic career, but now that I have, I guess it doesn’t surprise me. When I was in school I always took some kind of art class whether it was basic art, ceramics, or even photography. I always had an eye for creative things and really enjoyed creating with my hands. So I guess when it comes to eyelash extensions it’s no different. The crazy thing is that the first time I saw a demonstration of eyelash extensions I said, “I would never do that”, it looked so tideous and I thought to myself “ who has time for that”. But, you know what they say never say never. The first time I tried eyelash extensions it was was not easy, however, I was eager to keep trying and get better and from that day on I wanted to do whatever I could to perfect my craft. Which now even 5 years later, I’m still doing because there is always something I can do to get better. I don’t ever want to be complacent. The industry is constantly changing and I want to keep up with what’s current. It didn’t take long for me to see lashes as a form of art. Every single client comes in as a blank canvas and leaves a beautiful masterpiece. With lash extensions there are many ways to create and customize a look for each client. You can use different lengths and thicknesses, individual lashes or volume lashes. For the really bold clients you can add glitter or colored lashes. Another way to be creative is through the different styles, I offer to compliment the different eye shapes of every client. So when asked why I chose an artistic and creative career? My answer is I think I was always meant to go down the artistic path  and being creative is something I really enjoy. I look forward growing more as a lash artist and to finding more ways to be creative with my work.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the proud owner of Bewitching Lashes located in Conroe. It has been almost two years since I took a leap of faith and started my own business. It wasn’t easy getting to where I am now I had to work hard and really go outside my comfort zone, promoting and putting myself out there wasn’t something I was use to. Me not being from the area I didn’t know a lot of people so I didn’t have much help with promoting and getting my name out there. But I realized early on that it was my business and if I wanted to be successful that it was up to me only to make sure that happen.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout both of my esthetic teachers Mrs. Denice and Mrs. Lynda they taught me so much and really prepared me for life after school once I was in the industry and then as a business woman. I owe a lot to the both of them they inspired me so much. I also would like to shoutout my husband and family who have showed their support and being their for me from the day I started school and graduated, getting my esthetician license, starting my career and then becoming a business owner.
