We had the good fortune of connecting with Lesha Wincher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lesha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When I think about risk, I oftentimes find myself thinking what if this doesn’t work out I could be taking a huge risk on losing everything I’ve worked so hard for. However, I also tell myself you’ll never know unless you do take that risk. Another way that I look at taking risks is of course you want whatever it is your working on to work, so in that case, there’s no choice, but for you to gain from taking the risk in the first place. Furthermore, I remember when I first came up with the idea of E L L E É salon + spa. I was so excited, however, I was also terrified. I remember telling myself, “What if this doesn’t work? What if I fail?” I then had to tell myself, “What if this does work? What if I succeed?” I’ll never know unless I try. I also gave myself no choice, BUT for it to succeed. I knew all the work that was going to have to go into it, so I refused to fail at it. With starting anything new in life comes risks, however, you can’t let that hold you back from accomplishing your goals and dreams. I also didn’t take the word “NO” for an answer. I knew my vision, and I also knew that it was up to me to make it happen.

I am most proud of the response from our guests we have had. We’ve had so many guests come in to enjoy all of our services, and we can’t wait to continue welcoming our guests. I have always known that I wanted to be a business-woman. With having my Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, currently obtaining my Doctorate degree in Executive Leadership, and working in corporate for 6+ years I knew that I was ready to finally open my own business. I can honestly say that it has not been easy, however, it’s been worth it in every way possible. I overcame the challenges by constantly believing in myself no matter how hard it got. I also understand that it’s not always going to be easy, and you’re constantly going to be faced with challenges you just can’t let them get to you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love being in the River Oaks District. It definitely gives off a great vibe, shopping, and lots of food! I’m a huge foodie, so for sure checking out different restaurants, and of course stopping at the Galleria for shopping! I also really love the City Center area in Memorial. It is a family-friendly area with great shopping, bowling, and some of the best restaurants.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I honestly could not have done any of this without the support of my family. They have been through every failure, win, and all of my accomplishments. On days where I felt like I couldn’t accomplish any of my goals they were there for me, and are always there for me through any challenge that I face. I also know that I can talk to them about anything, because they’ve all been there before. My parents are seriously my biggest supporters who every single day push me to be the best that I can absolutely be!
