Meet Leurisa Watson | Private Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Leurisa Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leurisa, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I am a mom of 3 girls. I think the most important thing I’ve done as a parent is prioritize my children. I have remodeled my life with my children at the center. I volunteer at their schools. I am involved in the things they are a part of. I take on their interests. I made the effort to learn each child as the individual they are. I think this has the most impact because they feel seen, heard, cared for, and loved.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
J Rose Events is a private chef and catering company. I provide custom culinary experiences to suit any occasion. I attribute my growth as a business owner and chef to trial and error. It hasn’t always been the easiest, but I have learned so much on this journey. I am a hands on learner. The lessons that I have learned from failing has stuck out the most. I overcome challenges by researching, planning, and brainstorming how I can continue to improve and grow. The biggest lesson I have learned along the way is that just because I can do it, doesn’t mean I should. When I first started out I took on every opportunity that was presented to me. If I didn’t know how to do something, I would figure it out and try. It’s a good mentality, but it has also led to some humbling failures. I’ve learned to not stretch myself too thin and to take on the things that I can give my 100% effort and attention. I want the world to know that I am still here. I’m not very active on social media or advertising any more, but I am still cooking and working and serving up delicious meals made from scratch with love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a bit of a homebody LOL, but I love trying out new and trendy places, so I would look to Instagram to find some trendy spots. I would also take them to B. Elevated Candle Bar to make candles and to Wild for an infused culinary experience. I would do something cultural with them and probably visit some museums as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m going to shout out my husband, John. He is my rock and my support system. He picks up the slack where I am lacking and helps out in whatever way possible. I appreciate him so much.
