We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Reyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Linda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My endeavor was to spend more time with my growing family. So once I was in a position to quit my job at the flower shop, I did just that!

Working as a small business owner allows me to be flexible with my family/work schedule, and to me that is invaluable.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what sets me apart from others is that I don’t limit my work to just one or two elements in my industry. I do it all because I enjoy floral work greatly! So, even bringing happiness to others with a simple bouquet brings me satisfaction.

I stepped out of my comfort zone in order to make connections and promote my business. It wasn’t easy by any means because I’m naturally a very shy person, but what helped me to overcome this was my passion and drive for the work I do. I learned as much as I could in regards to marketing my own material and in social media. I joined mom business groups and other groups where I can learn and practice speaking about my craft.

I want everyone to know that I’m not just here for a paycheck. I’m here to create beautiful florals for everyone to enjoy! If we all had a little more beauty in our lives everyday, it would give us joy and help us be kinder to one amother.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take my bestie to a great brunch at Brennans, a nice dinner at Eddie V’s. and one of my favorite spots to hangout for drinks is at Space Cowboy. There’s so many fun, exciting places to go to in our area, so it’s hard to limit to a few.

Also, to be honest, there’s still so much more of Houston for me to explore. I look forward to visiting more gems this year and beyond!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s many people I have to thank for the experience and opportunities I’ve been given, and to all of them I am so appreciative! My husband is my greatest support and motivation of all my dreams and I’m so thankful to have him be a great love of my life.

Aside from the very personal; one connection I made over a year ago has really helped motivate me and point me in the right direction. I’m grateful to have met such a selfless entrepreneur as herself and she deserves all the recognition for her accomplishments.

Nicole Napper, founder of Houston Hotties Social Hour; where she helps women owned businesses promote their work and flourish. The knowledge and positivity that I’ve gained from her networking events are so encouraging as a small business owner. Through her, I have created connections within the community and that has helped motivate me to branch out in new aspects of my business.
