We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Kennedy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsay, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was born out of adversity and my drive to be home to help my kids get ready for school in the morning and pick them up from school without asking for time off. I became a single mom of 3 young kids during 2020 in the height of COVID. My heart was to take exceptional care of my clients while also juggling my children’s schedules.
The idea for this type of practice came to me in the years staying home with my three young kids as babies. During this time I personally dealt with some pretty intense neck pain. Our insurance didn’t have decent PT benefits and I started realizing how difficult it was to get access to care that would actually get to the root cause of my pain. Many practitioners in my area offered sessions costing over $225 a session with no results. Other practitioners wanted over $3500 for a plan of care that just didn’t make logical sense to me. So during my personal struggle with neck pain, the idea was born in me to create a small private PT practice where clients could have access to the knowledge and care that we are taught to give in PT school. Most of the big box PT companies make it unnecessarily tough on therapists and patients alike to get well and thrive!
In a nutshell, my company was born out of the needs I saw around me in my community.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The thing I am most excited about PHYSIOVICTORY is that fear is left at the door! In an age where often medical care is at best sick care and at worst, fear based—we are different. Every time a client enters our care and entrusts us with their time, money and hope, I give them honest, evidence based answers. Zero percent of our sales are made by scaring people into coming back. At PHYSIOVICTORY, we EDUCATE and EMPOWER clients one session at a time to live their life to the fullest and find their personal PhysioVictory on their journey.
I’ve overcome a lot of challenges this year from financial limitations to learning SEO and every single challenge was overcome through a combo of finding the right advisors, stepping back and looking at the big picture and honestly just asking God for guidance.
The one thing I want the world to know about my brand and story is that the diagnosis is never the story. If you have been told you will always have neck pain…maybe not. If you have been told you will never be able to get back in the gym…maybe not. Often the impossible becomes possible because I believe we are all created with a purpose and a power inside of us that often goes untapped. My logo is a Lion because through the difficulties of my journey I have been reminded of this quote and the power of the lion many times.
‘But of course I was quite safe. That is why the Lion kept on my left. He was between me and the edge all the time.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Horse and His Boy
In a really non-religious way, the Lion represents the grace, kindness and power of Christ. Every time I faced the “ledge” in business, I was always comforted by the concept of the Aslan figure quietly working in the background for my good and the good of my people and my community. Fear is inevitable but courage overcomes fear. Courage is stronger.
PHYSIOVICTORY serves primarily women aged 30-60 and their families. I want my company to be a place where women like me can find excellent, cost-effective care for themselves and their people.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re taking a trip to MOCO TX, you’ll want to head to Hughes Landing to the Venetian for a pedicure and chair massage first because you have to start a vacation with relaxation. Then we would head to dinner at State Fare to try out the new fun restaurant on the lake there. We might wander around Whole Foods after and pick out a yummy organic chocolate bar or just go smell the fancy soaps because I think that’s fun.
I’d love to hit up a concert at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. There’s something so fun about open air concerts. I’ve been wanting to try Axe throwing so I’d probably try to talk my friend into trying it out with me.
Another day we could load up my Pyredoodle Pup Lucy and go hiking in the Jones National Forest on 1488. It’s just a nice social outing. No hiking awards to be won.
One of my favorite things to do is go sit down a the public boat ramp and watch the sun go down on Lake Conroe a couple of miles from my house. It’s silly and small but something about it always sets my heart to rest.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a lot of Shoutouts!
-My mom, dad and sister for supporting my journey and encouraging me along the way
-My kids for rooting me on and sporting my company t-shirts proudly
-OPTIM Fellowship for training me in advanced manual therapy techniques and evidence based medicine
-Uncaged Clinician Coaches and community for walking me through the journey that is starting a business
-My neighbors who have supported me and my kids through the ups and downs of this journey. What a great community.
I’m sure I’m forgetting like 50 important names. You know who you are and thank you!
