We had the good fortune of connecting with Lesly Chairez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lesly, why did you pursue a creative career?
I love that my career gives me the opportunity to be as artistic and creative as I please! My clients are the best, they always trust my judgement and let me do my thing. It allows me to challenge myself and try new things. I pursued it because I feel free. I love being able to do what I love and make it art.
What should our readers know about your business?
Running a small business is not easy. Especially running it full time. Starting out with just selling treats, to now booking corporate events, has been a dream come true! But it definitely doesn’t happen over night. I can’t count the number of sleepless nights working non stop on creating and prepping for my events. Seeing the smile on my clients faces though, make it all worth it. I’m so excited to see what my future holds, I have big plans for my business and although I like to take things slow, I know the best comes always at the right time. Something I’ve learned is, don’t be afraid and don’t compare yourself to anyone else. We all grow at different paces, and we’re all unique in our own way.
I would love for the world to know that it’s okay to take break here and then. I’m all about mental health. If you’re not okay, then your business will feel that way too. It’s important to take care of yourself, to be able to grow and be better than the day before.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My family and I love taking walks around the city. Anytime we’re able to get some free time, you’ll see us at the Houston Zoo or Hermann Park walking and just enjoying the fresh air. Afterwards we always love to visit our favorite family restaurant— Texas Roadhouse. Nothing beats a great steak, bread rolls and a margarita!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I couldn’t have done this without the support from my family. Especially my husband, Pedro. He’s been my backbone in this business. Every time I feel like I’m failing or not doing something to my max, he always reminds me about why I started my business and why I love it. My family always supported me by booking me for their own events! And of course my OG clients/customers! I wouldn’t be here without the support from all of you. Always believing in me and my dreams!
