We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Jenschke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea initially came to us and then we just took it from there. When my husband and I first started working for the family farm people would stop and ask us if the could pick their own peaches from the trees. At first we thought who would want to do that? But ultimately it is the backbone of our business now as we are a primarily U-Pick farm. We have expanded from just peaches to strawberries, blackberries, pumpkins, flowers, and Christmas Trees.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business is a family owned and operated business. Even if you are not genetically related we still consider you family! We try to be different in the way that we want to cater to all ages and stages! We want our customers to have a great time when they visit and that means having something for everyone. That might include peach cobbler, ice cream, fresh produce, gifts, TexMex BBQ, or even Wine. Over the years I would definitely say it has not been easy. There is always a challenge, whether it’s weather related, structural, economic or life in general. I think for us what keeps us going is keeping the family farm going and keeping it relative and exciting. Getting people out side and educating about the importance of agriculture and where and how food is grown. One of the biggest and most important lessons we have learned is that we are not guaranteed anything. You constantly have to get up and work and change and be grateful! I think I would just like to say that supporting local farms and businesses is the foundation of this country and we appreciate so much every single one of our past and future customers. Our goal is to continue on and one day pass the family farm/business down to our two children.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our area is a touristy town so that’s easy..
First I would say visit Enchanted Rock and enjoy the view! Then I would say enjoy your choice of dining as Fredericksburg has an abundance of wonderful food places. You might enjoy a desert from one of the local bakeries and coffee from one of the coffee shops. Shopping is a must as we have a fabulous selection on our main street from jewelry, clothing, food, wine and more. Then I would say jump on a wine tour or two and see what all is out there. We have many wineries and venues to visit!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Really and truly our success is driven by our customers who continue to come out and support us. Without them showing up for every season or when they are passing through our area we would not be able to do what we love.
