We had the good fortune of connecting with London De La Teja and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi London, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think taking risks can be very scary for most people. Personally, I think it’s challenging to be so vulnerable, sharing my life so openly on social media, but I believe it was meant for me. I’m a very outgoing person who truly loves connecting to others, and this platform has brought that to me. When I started getting serious about posting, I wanted to change the perception of a “standard” fashion for all. We’re not alike. We are all different, unique and beautiful in our individuality. I wanted to show my audience that you can be genuinely who you are and people love that. I have been told by many “critics” that I need to stick to one lane and just do fashion, but I refuse to be put in a box. I love so many different things that make me who I am and bring me joy that I want to continue to show others you can do it all. I think what makes you a lifestyle influencer is taking the risk of sharing your life and everything you love with others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I come from a long line of entrepreneurs. I have always wanted to find something just for me, that made me happy; and if it ended up generating income one day, what more could you ask for? But that’s not how it started. My journey to becoming a lifestyle influencer has been extraordinary. I didn’t really set out for this to turn into what it is now, I just loved to share parts of my life and some of the things I care about. I always remember my Grandmother having a camera in her hand and taking videos and pictures of all of us growing up and I’m exactly like her. Before social media really kicked off, I was always the one documenting my life in some form: whether writing it in a journal, sharing things I loved with family and friends or being the first to plan an event and invite the whole city. There has been a ton of trial and errors, but what I can say I have really learned in the long run, is that all that really matters is to do what you love. If it makes you happy, then it’s for you. People will try to steer you in so many different directions, but just always come back to your heart. People love authenticity. Be true to yourself!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ohhhh yesss!!! This is exactly what I love. If you know me, you know I’m the first to plan a good time. Ask me where to go? You got it–sending the list over right now! Haha! First things first. I grab you from the airport with Texas country on the radio just to get you in the mood. The first stop is Matt’s El Rancho, where I introduce you to some of the best chips and queso and frozen margaritas you have ever had. After we had lunch, I take you down to South Congress, where we explore one of Austin’s most iconic streets. Vintage shops, the smell of leather from Allens Boots, and a view of the capitol right in the middle of the street. Once we have explored Soco, I bring you down to the Continental Club for some live music that would truly give you the feel of the live music capital of the world. Austin has some pretty amazing and diverse group people who live here. I love that! I think it would be a very boring place to be if everyone was the same. It’s a wonderful city that celebrates people from all over the world coming together under the beautiful Texas skies!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my little fam bam. I honestly think that success results from the support you have. I have always had a very close family consisting of a wide variety of personalities and incredible talents. Being raised in an environment that allows you to be you is so incredibly valuable. I married a man who was my very best friend and loves me unconditionally and allows me to be me. I cannot express how important that has been to my growth. When you have a team behind you that loves you and supports you, nothing else really matters. I am so blessed to have two amazing boys who I will continue to work hard for and inspire. I want to show them that they can do and be whatever their heart desires.
