We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Wisdom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monique, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Before, I discovered my talents of wedding and event planning I had always enjoyed and had a passion of planning events and special moments but I never realized it was something I wanted to do until my mom pointed it out to me while setting up for our Christmas party for family and friends. Her words, I quote were, “You are good at this you should make this a business.” In that moment, I knew it was my calling and confirmation to live in my purpose. Initially, I was fearful of starting a business and stepping out of my comfort zones but I decided to go full force after loosing my corporate job in the midst of COVID. So, I studied the industry, I mentored with prestigious wedding & event planners. Which in return help me to create a brand that represented me! Life is meant to be celebrated at every milestone of your life and I wanted to create a service for those special moments. But also create a service with a luxury experience. So, I created Wise Events & Design which is a full service luxury boutique wedding and event planning company based in Houston, Texas established with a passion to be wise and creative for your big day. We provide exceptional celebrations for month of coordination, partial planning, destination weddings and just about anything a la carte.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Founded in 2017, Wise Events & Design is a premier special event wedding & event planning company specializing in luxury weddings and stylish events. Based in Houston, Texas area & serving clients worldwide, we offer event planning, event design, and coordination services. At Wise Events & Design, we get to know our client’s on a personal level to understand and discover the style for their wedding and event., We discuss the scope of work and discuss their vision for their big day. We customize a package of service that best fits our client’s needs. We then build the dream team. The dream team will consist of vendors within our client’s budget that are a perfect fit for their vision. Our vision is to tell our client’s story by creating a lifetime of extraordinary memories and experiences. We put our heart and soul into making your dream wedding a reality.  Monique Wisdom, the founder, and CEO of Wise Events & Design has always had a keen skill for organization and a passion for planning spectacular events. In 2017, backed by extensive experience in the coordination industry, she decided to take the first steps in establishing her own business. Monique has now built a thriving career helping couples to create treasured moments with their loved ones. I am most proud of taking that next step, stepping out of fear and my comfort zone, and started! It has been the best thing I could have ever done! I say that to say if you have a dream, a vision or purpose don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and just do it! You won’t regret it in the end. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and this year we celebrated 18 years! We love hosting, entertaining, and traveling around the world. At Wise Events & Design, Monique understands that each milestone celebration is unique. This is why she offers flexible wedding packages and a la carte services for each of her clients. The level of planning she can deliver is entirely dictated by you and your needs. Monique’s process begins with a consultation where she will learn more about your love story and how you wish to celebrate it. No matter the size of your momentous occasion, Monique can create a mindful and enjoyable planning experience for you. Monique always loves networking and meeting new people. But most importantly, Monique is so excited about meeting you and sharing her vision of making your dreams a reality!! It is a privilege to work with my clients through one of the biggest milestones of your lives. Before I started Wise Events & Design, I was so fearful and afraid to step out of my comfort zones because of minor setbacks. I was so comfortable working a 9-5 that I kept putting it on the back burner. In the midst of COVID, I was laid off so that is what pushed me to keep going. Live in my purpose, step out on faith, and just do it. So I did. It has not been an easy road, but I never stopped trying. I pick up the pieces where there are obstacles, when I fall, I get back up and try again. I’ve had sleepless nights wishing I could become an entrepreneur. The challenge of working a 9-5 was that I could not focus on my business I gave Corporate America my all. I wasn’t able to give it 110%. But, now looking back to my stepbacks, obstacles, and challenges it is a blessing out of disguise. Even in the midst of COVID and losing my job and focus on growing my business I wouldn’t change anything about it. I love what I do and have a passion of serving others.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes- so in the process of creating a business, I wanted to train and follow other prestigious wedding and event planners in the industry. So, I want to recognize Eric Gordan with Elite Eventz. She not only gave me a chance to be a part of her mentorship program but she allowed me to shadow her events and went above and beyond to helping me grow in the event planning industry. I learned so much from her to help me build the confidence to take my business to the next step. With Erica being in the industry for over 10 years she provided me so much of her knowledge, wisdom and tools I needed to be a successful entrepreneur. I truly admire her work and she is an inspiration to not only me but many others in the industry. I also want to shout out to Sabrina with Lillie Jane Designs, Siji with Piece of Cake Events and Vicki with Merit Events who all have played a special role in my life of allowing me to co plan with them and assist them with there business for event days. They all mean so much to me and without them I would not be where I am today with my business.
