Meet Mye Allen | Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mye Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mye, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first started my business, my thought process was focused on freedom. Honestly, I wasn’t what some may have considered a good employee. I went to work and did an outstanding job on whatever task was assigned to me; however, I was always thinking of ways I could make someone else’s company better. I had a million reasons why my way was the best way and as an employee sometimes that way of doing things can become a problem. At the time my sons were much younger and I couldn’t be available to them the way they needed me. A lot of the reason was because I was always at work without flexibility. There were family emergencies that I frequently had to call in from work for and it always left me feeling bad. To me, that wasn’t okay. I often thought  there has to be something that’s more fulfilling and less stressful; that something would have to be created by me. I had to be the CEO of my own life. I no longer wanted to be put inside of a box that I couldn’t leave out of until my work-shift was over. I decided to design a position that was tailored for me in ways that could provide a service to the world.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A really interesting fact about me is, I am the owner and manager of two companies. It’s very difficult talking about one without mentioning the other. Mye&Mi, Exec. Co-Suites is my latest business venture. I’m so excited to grow and help other entrepreneurs by providing them with access to a cowork suite. Our suite is located in North Houston, it’s professionally designed and offers monthly memberships as well as daily drop ins. The office is perfect for remote workers or start-up entrepreneurs. There’s also M-N-M Services, I started this company four years ago as a Mobile Notary Loan Signing Agent. This company helped mold me as a business owner. I learned the ins and outs of entrepreneurship by managing my first business. M-N-M Services is a HUB certified WBE, MBE, here in Houston. In 2021 alone, I have completed over 1,000 real estate loan closings. What sets my company apart is my ability to perform the duties as a loan signing agent with little to no errors. I also take pride in providing excellent customer service, my company’s customer skills are beyond satisfactory, which has brought me many repeat clients. In addition to being a loan signing agent, we also offer training to Texas Notaries.

I was able to reach this point by listening to my clients and by providing them with the same service I would like to receive. As a customer, I am hard to please. I take the services I wish to receive as a customer and provide it as an owner; this method has taught me how to work with even the most difficult requests and last minute changes. Working for yourself can be challenging because as an entrepreneur we are the face of our brand. We’re not one of 1,000 employees. If one encounter with the owner is bad, people will not want to do business with us anymore. There’s no one to come behind us to apologize for our error on behalf of our company. I strive to avoid those types of situations.

I have learned to follow your passion. Don’t do something because someone else is doing it, stay true to your vision and your brand, so that when times get hard your authenticity can lead you out. Always remember why you started and never be afraid to change things. Don’t focus only on cosmetics, at least not more than you focus on the foundation. You don’t want a pretty logo, pretty website, with a faulty product. Always work on ways to improve yourself and your company, at your pace, not anyone else’s and don’t be afraid to go the extra mile. No matter how many times you fall, always get up and try it again, the next time it’s bound to work out.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Let’s just say part of the reason, I enjoy being a mobile notary is traveling throughout the city and meeting new people. There’s never a dull moment in Houston, it is filled with so many amazing places and is very diverse in culture and cuisine. I absolutely love art, so we’re definitely visiting all of Houston’s museums. The Museum District has one of my favorite Southern places to eat, Lucille’s. Most people visiting Houston like to try out the Pappa’s chains, I would recommend Pappasito’s and Pappadeaux. Barbecue is a great dish to try while dining here also, I know a few places we could stop by for great eats. There’s City Centre which is bound to give us a good time, great views, more great food and a little shopping there or one of the larger malls closer by. Sports in Houston is also a big deal, so we’ll check out one of the city’s team games.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge shout out to GOD for the vision and the guidance. I often tell the story of how I got started in the industry. The divine timing, the clients, the favor, the resources, were all possible because of him. Next, my sons, whom I left my corporate position to be more available and accessible to. They have been so supportive and patient with me and my company while I worked my way through many business challenges to find my niche. My two sisters also have had my back in ways that were unimaginable. There’s also a special person that motivated me and challenged me to constantly grow and become better. I don’t want to leave anyone out, I have such an amazing network of family and friends who all play an active role in my life, through prayers, support, referrals and so much more.
