We had the good fortune of connecting with N8 Hassan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi N8, why did you pursue a creative career?
Music and art kind of chose me and always has been most important. My great grandma and grandpa Delzel used to play harmonica and Irish folk tunes on the radio in Hollywood in the 1920’s. My mom also played blues harmonica, guitar and sang in a band and played drums for a short time passing it on to me at a young age. My uncle Tim was also and artist who not only played harmonica but also would sell his art at Renaissance Faires for years all over the country. I feel music is not only in my blood, it’s just as important as water is to the human body. I feel I have to express myself and my musical talents and songs with the world. In the past, I’ve had the honor of recording and playing drums in various eclectic bands over the years also touring with them internationally. Currently I’m finishing my degree in Recording Arts. I am also producer, singer/songwriter behind my band Pulsar Radio. It’s Space Rock Music inspired by by the likes of Bowie, T.Rex and Pink Floyd. In the band I play guitar, drums and sing. My wife Fabiola aka Lil Fugue also sings and plays keys and synthesizers and Frank fills in the low end on Bass Guitar.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently I’m finishing my degree in Recording Arts and have also received my Protools certifications, internships at 2 major studios in Burbank and North Hollywood and working on my Dante certifications for live sound! I also recently landed a live sound gig in Santa Monica where I have started my own Live Sound production company Pulsar Radio Productions. I’m the lead sound engineer there and I help make the production happen for live music 5 days a week. Each day is always different given the type of artist and it’s always fun dialing in the sound and makes my job even more fulfilling at the end of the day. In the past, I’ve had success touring in a lot of great bands (Christian Death, Red Elvises and Outernational) and even had the pleasure of touring with Blue Man Group! There was always challenges on the road and it’s a completely different lifestyle that isn’t for everyone. I think after touring solid for over 10+ years I finally wanted to settle down and stay in one place for awhile and LA has been the place that I now call home and has been a stable place for me to make and showcase my art. This past summer, I had the pleasure of working with Street Food Cinema putting on Movie Screenings in the park. I gained so much knowledge working with them and it’s a collective and great group of people working together as a team. Thankfully their door is always open if I’m ever in need of any extra live sound and production gigs.

Lastly and most important, We would like the world to know more about our Space Rock band Pulsar Radio and hope it humbles our listeners by pinpointing their tiny place in the universe, opening up their minds and influencing them look to the sky, science, earth conservation and space exploration! I would also like to think our music could be the soundtrack for people’s life journeys here on our precious pale blue dot in the universe, Mother Earth 🌍💗

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think I would take them thru Venice Beach/Santa Monica for the sights, sounds and talent blooming here in LA. I would also take them to East LA where Fabiola is from and immerse them in Mariachi Music, Mexican culture and heritage and treat them to some of the best Tacos and food in the world! Lastly, I would take them for a hike thru the mountains which is just a short trip from the city or The Getty Art Museum. Los Angeles has so much to offer and that’s why we love living here. Here we have a great work/life balance and can still express our art and live out our wildest dreams…

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my wife Fabiola for not only being the love of my life but also always inspiring me by caring deeply for people’s health and well being and for being. She an amazing and talented keyboardist/vocalist and personal fitness trainer! Shout out Mr. Frank Williams my band director and mentor in high school who taught me the importance of music and instilled Jazz, the foundation of music, into my musical approach. I would also like to shout out and thank my Grandma Darlene, Mom, Uncle Tim for always believing in my musical dreams and aspirations and helping make it happen all these years!
Also shout out to School Of Rock for being a go to for music education and a place I have always been able to share my musical education and talent and has also called home while not on tour.
