We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Seraphin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natasha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, After being in the fashion industry for sixteen years along with multiple years of management experience, I thought i had a leg up in going into business for myself. I had no idea how much I did not know. I quickly learned that being a business owner is a non stop roller coaster of trail and era and learning experiences.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the CEO of an online ladies boutique called House of Jacqui! Our company started with a model of “Work to Play” essentials and has since evolved into “A Slay For EveryDay”! Coming from a background of corporate America requiring business professional work attire, I would have a hard time finding youthful fashion forward looks that were quality, work appropriate and affordable. I knew I couldn’t be the only one experiencing this struggle. I decided then, That I wanted to create a ladies boutique providing an experience that shows the client how to build a business and casual wardrobe. You know I get that question a lot, what sets your business apart, we just focus on quality garments and providing an enhanced shopping experience. We strive to earn our customers trust by the way we treat them when things go right and even when they go wrong. We let them know that they are valued! Getting to where we are today, took a lot of hard work and late nights. Challenges are inevitable, but we overcome them with pray and consistency. As we continue to learn as we go the key is not to give up. Remember why you started the journey and ask God to guide and help you through the difficult times. The greatest lessons I’ve learned is Don’t be afraid to ask for help and Rome wasn’t built in a day. I really struggled with both of these concepts in the beginning. I thought I had to figure everything out in my own. and if I didn’t see the growth I wanted immediately,I felt defeated. If you stay grounded and keep putting in the work, in due time you will reap the fruits of your labor. House Of Jacqui is an affordable luxury ladies boutique. The Modern Professional Woman’s one-stop Fashion House, We specialize in Cutting edge work to play looks that will keep you Gushing! From the Office to Happy Hour shop today, because Everyday deserves a Slay!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So, I’m a Louisiana girl but I live it here in Houston! When my sisters and girlfriends come to visit we always have a great time! The weekend will start , Friday night with a trip to Davenports! Davenports is a small bar in midtown, they are known for their amazing mixed drinks and great music. Of course, we’d have to get some good eats from one of the food trucks that surround the bar. Saturday’s is a notorious festival day her in Houston. We would spend the day in the Houston sun probably in discovery green, taking pictures by the waterfall or abstract art, and shop local vendors. Next we’d head across the street to “Grottos” for Italian margaritas and their famous chicken and goat cheese pizza, delicious!! That evening we are getting all dolled up for some music and fine dining at Mastros!! Mastros has a beautiful ambience, fantastic food and superb service. Next we’re going for a night cap at Post Oak Hotel! They have a beautiful lounge bar inside, chill music , great place to have some drinks and conversation. No it’s Sunday, after church we are having brunch at Bisou my favorite Brunch Spot!! We are gonna take in the elegance of the space with mimosas and a phenomenal breakfast.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
On my Entrepreneurial journey, I’ve learned in order to grow and truly be successful you need a network and team of supporters. My biggest supporter is my loving husband Dominique Seraphin. He has allowed me to follow my dreams and continues to push me reach my full potential. Also, my family and close friends have played a major role in helping me on this journey. Lastly, I’ve also been blessed to have built an networking of amazing like minded women whom have helped me tremendously. Be it Collaborations, recommendations or sharing content, these ladies I like to call my “Business Besties” have helped me out tremendously! I wish I could name them all but I owe gratitude to so many.
