We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikisha Reagan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikisha, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I made the decision to just continue to be me. I am a product of Houston, Tx born and raised here, there are a lot of us who had nothing growing up and life was really hard. My story is no better than the person reading it, so why should I pretend. From the start I decided I was going to be myself no matter how high God decided to take me. Being able to answer my phone when people call for information about my services is what I thrive off of. Knowing that I am still me and not what others want or think I should be is golden to me. I still live in the same home I had before the my finances changed. I still get my hair and nails done by the same females in the neighborhood I grew up in. I am very aware of how fraud the world has became. Being able to not have any concern about what others think or say has been my overall gift from God.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am NR SWANKS owner/founder of Nr Swanks Freight Brokerage located in Houston, Tx. I assist shippers and carriers (truck drivers) across 48 states including Canada. I help the shipper companies move their products all over the U.S. all from the comfort of my home office. What sets me apart is I know that the truck driver is the heart beat of America and he/she is who keeps you and I with the daily necessities needed to remain comfortable in our lives. With that that’s why I created a 100% online training course that will help more people not only become financially free but also, create more people who also understand that the truck drivers need more higher paying loads for the service they provide. My journey to where I am today came from me being tired of stress in the work place. Tired of answering to other people and tired of other people dictating my what, when and how in my life. No, it wasn’t easy. My start up was almost six months long just to legalize my business. I was using funds from every pay check to purchase something that would help me complete the start, but also not put me in a bind within my household. It normally takes about 2 hours to file all paperwork if you have the monies. WOW! Along the way I learned to be more normal than before. Clients don’t gravitate to being just another number. My clients, students and mentees allow me to be me and they love it. I tried writing scripts when I first came into the industry but it didn’t take me long to see that people don”t want to do business with a representative or a person who sounds completely like a robot. I want the world to know that I am YOU to whom ever is reading this. I didn’t have it to start but I made it work but, I didn’t allow that to be my reason not to start. I was scared because I was afraid of the unknown. I prayed and I asked God to help me though this new journey that was present. I worked everyday on something pertaining to my business. I read a lot of fluff on social sites and I stand away from it. I went directly to the source to get any information that I was seeking. And I made it my business to become the mentor I so desperately needed when I first became apart of this industry. So, just a word of advice for those who may want to get training. Please do not purchase my course if you are not willing to utilize my free 365 day mentoring.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take him/her to my favorite steak house called MASTRO’S I would eat a 6oz steak well done with sautéed mushrooms, asparagus, loaded mash potatoes with a Lemon Drop drink. Definitely, visit some of the historical places here in the city and of course visit the art district. Another place we would most likely visit would be Houston’s Play House and the Galleria. Houston is a very large city and there is a lot to get into so our week would be filled with exploring different eaters, shops, lounges and more.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, Shoutout to GOD! For directing my every step and keeping me with sound mind and spirit. Never allowing me to get trapped within my own self destruction. Keeping me upright at all times and changing who I was in my earlier years and making my name great in my latter years. To my husband who challenged me the most and despite our head butts during my start up he never doubted what he believed I could do. And to #TEAMSWANKS all of the people I have been blessed to come in contact with and train. They keep me on my toes.
