We had the good fortune of connecting with Qiana Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Qiana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Aqua Zen HTX because I wanted to create a space where people could truly relax and feel restored—mind and body. I saw a need for treatments that went deeper than the surface, and starting my own business gave me the freedom to offer something intentional, healing, and unique.

What should our readers know about your business?
Aqua Zen HTX is a wellness spa focused on scalp therapy and holistic treatments that help people truly relax and reset. What sets us apart is our intentional, calming approach that goes deeper than surface-level beauty. The journey hasn’t been easy, but passion, consistency, and support got me through. I’ve learned to trust the process, and I’m proud to offer a space that’s all about peace, care, and true well-being.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend visited Houston, we’d brunch at Lucille’s, relax at Aqua Zen HTX, and explore the Museum District. We’d hang out in The Heights, grab dinner at Squable, and catch rooftop views at Post Houston. A little wellness, a little culture, and a lot of good food—Houston style!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely—I wouldn’t be where I am without the support of others. I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family and close friends who constantly encouraged me, especially on the days when entrepreneurship felt overwhelming. I also have to give credit to every mentor and client who believed in Aqua Zen HTX before it fully came to life—their feedback, trust, and support kept me going. This journey has truly been a team effort, and I’m grateful for every hand that helped lift the vision.
