We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebekah Matamoros and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebekah, what do you attribute your success to?
Many gauge success on a dollar amount or followers online, but I gauge my success on customer reviews/referrals. Knowing that my relationship goes beyond that one event being executed.

What should our readers know about your business?
Hopeful Events and Design is a full-service event and wedding planning company. We can take your ideas and transform them into a spectacular and memorable unique event. We offer several packages to fit your needs, budget, and dreams. From the month of coordination; to full planning, covering all aspects of your wedding. We offer an a la carte list, custom décor and have an amazing list of friendly, great, and reliable vendors. We have the capabilities and resources to provide event design and decor for corporate events, weddings, and milestones. I often get asked what sets us apart from other companies who offer similar services. I can sum it up with – our approach! In the beginning our business clients and vendors would complement our work and I honestly would say, doesn’t everyone do it this way? Well, no. I have learned that our simple attention to detail is next level. Our relationship with clients goes beyond their special day. As they say, nothing worthwhile comes easy. This phrase could not be truer; there has been a lot of trial and error, late nights, a lot of tears, researching and learning to obtain more knowledge in this industry. Growing not only as a business owner, but as an individual. When I do something, I dive all in. Since day one I knew I wanted to help others in the planning process, to not only eliminate stress, but make their wedding day as special as possible. It goes beyond the little details; it’s the calls I’ve received with brides calling me crying having to postpone their day. Those moments where – what can I possibly say to comfort them, yet bring a solution to a problem. Earning my couple’s trust to help guide them in the planning process. Being a business owner comes with its challenges. During those difficult times, I remind myself why I started. I have learned that I can’t stress over what I can’t control. That everything happens for a reason and to always trust God and His timing. Having a business has its seasons and at times those seasons may be tiresome, lonely and confusing, but are needed for growth. The best advice I can give is to always stay true to yourself. Trust God and his purpose, get yourself a solid support system. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There isn’t enough room in this section to formally Shout Out all those who have played a role in my small business. When all is said and done, I wouldn’t be here without my husband, Kenrick! He is usually behind the scenes in all our production, but his support and love go beyond setups and breakdowns. He is the one who encourages me to do more, and want more. As a business owner, you can’t do it alone, and I am blessed to have an amazing team that share the same passion,, attention to detail and love our clients. HUGE SHOUT OUT TO Jocelyn, Mishell & Wendy ! Thank you..
