We had the good fortune of connecting with Rena Walls and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rena, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For me, starting my own business was the only option. I had to live in my truth and start doing what I knew I had always wanted to do. I thought that if I kept living doing the things that other people wanted me to do, I would never truly be successful in life or find true happiness.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I want those who follow, see me and or support me to know that this was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. My journey has been far from easy and I’ve faced more challenges chasing my dreams than most would probably face in life generally. But I feel like my story is what sets me apart because I’ve struggled in ways many that you couldn’t imagine, like loosing my best friend. He was a beautiful soul and I still don’t believe it was his time to go but knowing that he didn’t live as long and wasn’t able to follow his dreams made me go after mine. He inspired me. And having him in spirit watching and protecting me excites me the most because I’m doing this for him and all my other friends that I recently lost.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Actually it was my best friend Ravyn birthday a few days ago and we actually did go out! We went to the Domain to celebrate her on Friday and Sunday. The Baddies were awesome, good vibes and great food! We found a vegan taco joint called Cascabel, it was amazing. We went to the Galleria Mall, prepare yourself to go there because it is huge. Atomic bottle is a great place to go have some fun and Parma Pizza! These are places I high recommend going to in Houston.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank myself and that’s not to say that no one inspires me or uplifted me. But just to say that it was me who kept myself going and lifted. A lot of people didn’t believe in me or my dreams. Besides me the one who kept me going was God my creator. Every time I tried to do something else to fit the satisfaction of others, I failed at achieving it because God didn’t have that life planned out for me and I knew it. It was my courage and Gods plan that got me to where I am today.
