We had the good fortune of connecting with Robbie Rensel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robbie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve known what I’ve wanted to do since I’ve been 15 and I’ve geared my whole life around it. I knew that I wanted to control my own destiny, work on building my future not someone else’s, and have the flexibility to live how I wanted to live. I didn’t want just another job, I wanted to build something meaningful, not only to me, but to others.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are an experience company. Whether that’s in a home, at our new venue we are building, or at an office or offsite venue, we look to make what we do memorable. We don’t just feed people, we give them an experience. We customize events, menus, formats, environments, activations, and anything else to make a luxury event truly memorable.

I am most proud of the venue we are building. It’s a culmination of all the work that I’ve done since I’ve been 15. The Luxury Tree House is an experiential entertaining showroom where you can hands on learn about everything you would need for your home. From Monogram Appliances to a chefs knife, you can learn about why each product is important to your journey.

Building this business has taken everything out of me, and it’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. What’s made me successful is 2 things. I am never scared to ask for help, and I never give up. If you never give up, you’ll eventually win.

If I have to give one piece of advice it would be, be yourself and be authentic. There’s only one of you and the world needs your creative different ideas. Remember, it’s only called impossible, because no one’s done it before, be the first.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a total homebody, because I seem to be working most of the time or when I’m not, I’m spending time with my family.

I’d definitely hit up an Astros game, go to the Zoo, eat at Pappas Steakhouse and Steak 48 visit Bouchee at The Post Oak Hotel, and finally come visit us at The Luxury Tree House (shameless plug).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s been so many people that have helped me over the years, that have spent their time and attention in my growth and success. What’s been the most impactful is the 3 people that have never stopped believing in me even when things get really rough, my Mom, my Dad, and my wife Mandy. It is so incredibly hard to build a business, near impossible, and there’s some days where it’s pretty bleak. There’s a lot of mistakes made along the learning path, but it’s the people that have helped pick me back up after a big failure and encouraged me to keep going that’s made all the difference. There’s been countless times I’ve wanted to quit, but they’ve helped me see the bigger picture of what I am doing. They’ve been by my side the whole time.
