We had the good fortune of connecting with Ruby Cloutier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ruby , we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I look at taking risk as something positive, even if it brings failure. Taking risk are essential in order to move forward and upward. Taking risk has played a huge role in my life and career, and it comes with the ups/downs. In the past, I attempted to try many different types of business related to design and they were failures, but that did not stop me from trying because I am not afraid to fail. It’s all about timing and you never know what your audience is going to connect with unless you keep going. When I started my home staging and interior design business, it was a huge risk because while I had a background in fashion design I did not have a background in interiors, but people connected with it and the were supportive. Starting this business was a huge risk. Putting yourself out there at anytime is a risk, uncertainty is a risk but if you don’t try you will never know!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the founder/design of Vazzo Spaces a Home Staging and Interior Design company. In just three short years I was able to expand my business to three cities, Austin, Houston and San Antonio. It’s been extremely challenging, as well of endless days of work but incredibly self rewarding. My motto is, “get up, get dressed and do your best” -this certainly helps during the rollercoaster dips of owning a business. I feel my business was able to grow so quickly due to my approach. I truly have a laid back approach to my client service. I like to provide a no pressure zone, as I want interior design or home staging to be a happy and pleasant experience for my clients. I have learned plenty of important lessons along the way and one of them is to always sleep on a thought before replying to a message. I enjoy this journey I am on, even through the tough times, it’s my passion and I hope it shows through my designs.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, we would first get a workout in at Lagree HTX then head to brunch at Pondicheri, maybe do a little shopping at Abejas boutique and Kuhl-Linscomb. For dinner I love the tried and true Hugo’s the food and customer service is always top notch! We would end the night dancing at Etro!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have received so much support from the Home Staging & Redesign Association, HSRA. This is a very strong group of leaders who have so much knowledge to give and they are not afraid to help others with in the same industry, grow.
