We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We wanted to create an environment specifically for nerds and geeks like ourselves. We wanted to let our fellow geeks and nerds that there is an place where you can generally be yourselves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Whats sets us apart from many other bars and arcades is that we are true to being an geek/nerd. We are nerd and geeks ourselves., and we wanted to present an location where nerds from across the USA can relate to what we are trying to build in Houston. The journey for presenting GAMABAR was not easy at all, because when we started our business thats when the pandemic hit all small and baby businesses. From what my good friends and owners of FAO once told me to “TO ALWAYS WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN ON PAPER!!” While doing that it helps to keep us organize and on top of everything that we are trying to accomplished. What i wanted the world to know is that we are going to be the FIRST VR GAMING BAR IN THE US.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
MOST DEFINITELY WILL TELL THEM TO VISIT FAO!! AMAZING SPEAKEASY BAR WITH GAMES THAT ARE SIMILAR TO WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO PRESENT!!

VISIT CHINATOWN OF HOUSTON BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOME AMAZING SPOTS TO GO EAT AND DRINK AND DO KARAOKE!!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We wanted to give an shoutout to Sheila and Ashley (Owners of Providence) that allow us to host our very first event in Houston. We also wanted to shoutout Adonis and Bronson (Owners of FAO) Follow allowing us to receive our first pay event ever!!! Also, wanted to shoutout to our own community for supporting all off our success for the last 3 years and believing in our vision. Also, last but not least i wanted to thank my beautiful woman future wife (Patrice Young) (Owner of Doggone Pets) and my business partners (Gregory Runnels and Micheal Lietner) for working their butts off to help keep this vision that i receive from my heavenly father Jesus Christ.
