We had the good fortune of connecting with Sana Dhedhi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sana, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most challenging decision I ever made was simply taking that first step. For years, I had been a full-time mom, fully dedicated to my family, and shifting even a fraction of my focus to myself felt overwhelming. I had convinced myself that all my energy needed to revolve around my family’s needs. But I eventually realized that to give my best to them, I needed to invest in myself as well.

With my husband’s encouragement, I began exploring my options. I knew I wanted to pursue something creative and artistic—design, building, and hands-on projects had always sparked my excitement. Yet, I wasn’t sure how to channel that passion. It wasn’t until I attended a wedding and became mesmerized by the floral arrangements that I felt a sense of clarity. A quiet voice inside me whispered, One day, I want to design with flowers and create magical moments for people.

During COVID, I finally decided to take the leap. I enrolled in a floral design class at the Houston School of Flowers. It wasn’t an easy decision—I wrestled with guilt and doubt—but it turned out to be the key to rediscovering my creativity and unlocking a new chapter in my life.

Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful I chose to take that first step. It taught me that pursuing your own dreams isn’t selfish—it’s essential. That one decision transformed my life in ways I could never have imagined.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Floral design is more than just arranging flowers for me—it’s about telling a story, evoking emotions, and creating unforgettable moments. What sets me apart is my attention to detail. I strive to ensure that every design is thoughtful and tailored to reflect my clients’ unique visions. It’s the small, intentional touches that bring an arrangement to life and make it truly special.

I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come since stepping into this field. After years of being a full-time mom and homemaker, I took a leap of faith and enrolled at the Houston School of Flowers. That first class marked the start of a journey filled with discovery, creativity, and growth. It wasn’t easy—self-doubt and finding balance were challenges I had to overcome—but trusting my passion and staying curious helped me push forward.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that the process of learning never ends. Every project and client brings new opportunities to grow, and I’m always looking for ways to improve my craft. That mindset has been key to my development as both an artist and a professional.

What I want the world to know is that my story is rooted in passion and resilience. My brand isn’t just about flowers—it’s about celebrating life’s moments, creating connections, and crafting designs that leave lasting impressions. I’m excited to continue this journey, blending creativity with purpose, and helping others turn their dreams into reality.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I were entertaining my best friend in Houston, I’d start by exploring the city’s vibrant food and shopping scene. Houston’s diverse neighborhoods—like Montrose, Memorial, River Oaks, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, and Katy—each offer unique spots to visit and experiences to enjoy.

For food, I’d kick things off with classics like Pappasito’s for Tex-Mex and Pappadeaux’s for seafood—staples I’ve loved for years. A couple of other favorites are Lava Lounge Houston and POST Houston. Lava offers a relaxed, Mediterranean-inspired vibe with delicious cuisine and hookah, perfect for unwinding. POST Houston, on the other hand, is a vibrant shopping, dining, and entertainment hub located in a beautifully repurposed historic post office building.

For a sweet treat, I’d stop by Amorino in the River Oaks District. Their gelato and desserts are perfect for enjoying while shopping or strolling through the area.

If we’re in the mood for ethnic cuisine, my go-to spots are Aga’s Restaurant and Himalaya Restaurant for amazing Indian and Pakistani dishes. To top it off, Raja’s Sweets and Aga Juice is perfect for traditional desserts and savory snacks. For a quick yet memorable bite, Pizza 101 serves up authentic, delicious pizzas with a variety of toppings—a perfect stop after a busy day.

For an upscale evening out, I’d recommend Musaafer, which recently earned a Michelin star, making it a must-visit for a special night. Another fantastic option is Steak 48, a high-end steakhouse offering a luxurious dining experience in the Galleria area.

Beyond food, Houston is home to incredible attractions. Space Center Houston is a must-visit to explore NASA’s history and the wonders of space exploration. For a fun waterfront experience, Kemah Boardwalk offers rides, entertainment, and dining with a view.

Whether it’s indulging in amazing food, shopping, or exploring iconic attractions, Houston always has something special to offer!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to recognize my mentor, Elena Scardino, who has been pivotal to my success. Her vast experience has guided me in both the artistic and business sides of the floral industry. From design and client relations to time management, Elena has imparted invaluable lessons that continue to shape my career.

I first met Elena through a floral wholesale connection. I had shared my contact information with the sales team, hoping to find freelance opportunities. Through that network, Elena reached out about a seasonal position during the holidays. I worked on her project, and we quickly formed a connection. Impressed by my dedication, she offered me a long-term position with opportunities for growth within her company. Over time, Elena has become my trusted advisor and go-to person for all things related to this industry.

That being said, none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of my husband and family. Their encouragement to pursue this field and their belief in me have been the foundation of my journey. Their love and support have been crucial to my success, and I am deeply grateful for their continued presence in my life.
