Meet Sarah Robertson | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Robertson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
For me, risk has never been about recklessness—it’s been about trust. Trusting myself, my vision, and the belief that what I create behind the lens matters. When I left the safety of the “expected path” and my photography business, I was stepping into the unknown. Every decision—from investing in gear to hosting my own events to saying yes to opportunities I wasn’t fully “ready” for—was a risk.
But risk is where growth lives. Photography taught me that—because every time I’m behind a camera, I risk missing the shot, but I also risk creating magic. Choosing to show up in business, to share my story, to photograph people in their rawest, most vulnerable moments—it’s all risk. And yet, those risks have given me not only a career but a legacy.
Risk has been the bridge between where I was and where I am now. It’s why my work doesn’t just stop at pretty pictures—it’s about connection, truth, and honoring the fleeting moments that make life extraordinary.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most proud of building something that didn’t just happen overnight, but out of grit, resilience, and faith. My journey wasn’t easy—I came from humble beginnings, faced losses, and had to fight for my worth both personally and professionally. But each challenge gave me perspective: life is fleeting, and the only way to honor it is to create boldly and unapologetically. Photography became my sanctuary, and then it became my business.
The lessons I’ve learned?
– Growth never stops if you never stop searching for it.
– Vulnerability is not weakness—it’s the bridge to connection.
– And the moments we often overlook are the ones we’ll ache for later.
What I want the world to know is that Sarah RG Photography isn’t just about pretty pictures. It’s about legacy. It’s about creating spaces where women, families, and business owners can see themselves in their power, their beauty, their truth. My story is woven into every frame—and I hope my art reminds people that no matter where you come from, you have the right to be remembered in light.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, we’d do Houston the luxe + local way: brunch at Hearsay, art at the Menil + MFA, sushi at Kata Robata, golden hour at Buffalo Bayou, and a little shopping at Smith House Couture.
Nights would be rooftop cocktails at Post Houston, live music, and maybe a speakeasy or two. Of course, Tex-Mex at Ninfa’s is a must, and we’d wrap it all with coffee + murals in Montrose.
Houston has it all—flavor, culture, art, and the kind of energy that makes you want to explore the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the village that poured into me. My family, my friends, and the community of women-owned businesses here in Houston have been the backbone of my growth—not just in photography, but in life. From those who cheered me on when I was just starting out, to the creatives who said, “let’s collaborate” before I even had it all figured out, their belief fueled mine.
I have to give a special shoutout to the women who trusted me to capture their stories in front of my lens—those first clients who showed up and said yes to me. They taught me that my work isn’t just about photos, it’s about connection, empowerment, and legacy.
And of course, mentors and fellow artists—both near and far—who reminded me that art is never just for us; it’s for the people we touch with it. Every ounce of encouragement, every referral, every “keep going” has shaped Sarah RG Photography into more than a business. It’s a community.
