We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarika Adi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarika, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind Soul Houston is the city’s diverse culinary scene, eclectic stores and boutiques, and unique activities and attractions. Houston has so much to offer, but people often struggle to discover these hidden gems, which is why I want to highlight these must-visit spots that truly make Houston unique. I enjoy finding these attractions and activities, sharing the stories of small businesses, connecting with the community, and inspiring others to discover the richness of Houston’s cultural landscape.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My entrepreneurial spirit, through my business education, influences my approach to my platform. I try to use it not just as a place to list activities, but also find innovative ways to engage and cater to my audience. One thing I’m proud of is my close collaboration with small business owners. Working alongside them, I’ve learned the value of agility in Houston’s dynamic landscape of attractions. Like with any ventures, I’ve encountered my fair share of challenges, but each one was a learning opportunity, and I learned to adapt. My passion for uncovering hidden gems and highlighting unique experiences is what keeps me motivated to keep going!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this question! To kick off the day, I’d suggest brunch at one of my favorite spots in town – Citizens of Montrose, an Australian-style brunch café. My other recommendations include The Breakfast Klub, Flora, and Empire Café. Contrary to popular belief, Houston offers plenty of outdoor and nature-friendly experiences. I’d take them for a leisurely stroll through McGovern Centennial Gardens, a scenic stop at Eleanor Tinsley Park for a beautiful view of the skyline, and a visit to the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall. One of my favorite activities is pedal boating in Hermann Park, followed by a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts or Houston Zoo in the museum district. For a unique shopping experience, I recommend exploring Montrose, which has a lot of charming thrift stores and boutique businesses like Pavement, Leopard Lounge, and Space Houston. We could end our shopping spree with a coffee at Common Bond Bakery or Refuge, my favorites! Houston’s nightlife is super vibrant, with dancing vibes in Midtown, barhopping in Washington and Heights, and Downtown for more eclectic vibes, especially NotsuoH and Behind Closed Doors. To wrap up the evening, we would grab a slice from the best pizza places in city-Franks, and a sweet treat from the delicious Insomnia Cookies!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A heartfelt shoutout goes to my friends, family, and everyone who supports my platform. Your encouragement, feedback, and belief in my vision have been instrumental in keeping me motivated to growing my platform. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey!
Additionally, I would like to shout out the resilient small business owners of Houston, especially unique stores like My Flaming Heart and Joshua’s, whose hard work, passion, and commitment to their craft have ignited my inspiration. Their dedication has been the driving force behind Soul Houston!
