We had the good fortune of connecting with Shereka Heard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shereka, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
My definition of success is achieving my personal goals. Never giving up when things get difficult. Achieving the things I want to be happy.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Because I never want to just provide an one time service for my clients, I get to know my clients on a personal basis. I want them to feel comfortable and trust us from start to finish in the planning process. That makes it easier once the client is ready to book our services again. I would stay up late nights brainstorming, researching, and marketing. I’m always thinking. Trying to come up with new ideas for the business. I keep a notebook and pen close by so I can write down my ideas as they come to me. It has definitely not been easy but giving up is not an option. I’m learning as I go. I also have a few good people that I can count on to help me keep my business going. I’ve learned a lot since I started my business almost 4yrs ago. I’m still learning everyday.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Although she’s no longer with us, I want to dedicate this shoutout to my mom because when I first started my business everywhere she went she would market my business by telling whomever she came in contact with about my business and she’d give them one of my business cards. She would always call and say I need more business cards, I ran out. She also would pick up something from the store that she thought I could use for an event. So I’m thankful she was here to see me start my dream business. I know she’s looking down and still rooting for me to I know she’s looking down on me smiling.
