We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacy Caridi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stacy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love to plan, create and design . . . I enjoy it all. Not only is it fun, I can give back. Art impresses, promotes, brings recognition, creates motive and brings action. I get to combine my skills to help individuals or companies in more than one of those areas. From a simple business card to a full wall mural or trade show background; from a smash cake to a wedding cake; from baby photos to senior photos and product photography – I get to enjoy the reward of building others and creating memories. I get to combine my skills in graphic design, printing, cakes and photography. I have my dream job!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
At this point in my life, time with friends is a bit more quiet. It includes time at home around the kitchen island, or in the backyard at the kitchen grill. Food is always involved and kids run free on the slip-in-slide. However, you can find all kinds of treasures anywhere in Houston and the surrounding area. I say “Houston” lightly. I grew up on the west side of “Houston” in Katy, where Friday night lights were the real deal. Head north to The Woodlands for a great scenic walk and a romantic date; further up to Conroe and you’re on a lake. Go northwest to Brenham for some great antique shopping and of course, Bluebell ice cream. Check out space history at NASA on your way South to Galveston for a trip back in time on The Strand. Head into downtown Houston to watch a Broadway play and enjoy the museums. Is it March?? Well, we’re headed to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo of course! The restaurants are endless as are the town festivals, concerts and entertainment. Thirty minutes in any direction may greet you with an entirely different experience.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh my goodness, so many deserve recognition! My family, friends, husband, church members, and even my former employers. I have been very blessed to have an incredible support system. They have all, at some point, graciously volunteered to be guinea pigs for my new ideas or techniques. They trusted in me to help with their celebrations and events. However, it would have been incredibly hard to start this venture without my amazing, hardworking, supportive, loving, hilarious husband. He has encouraged me in everything that I have done. He is also my most trusted critic. . . he is far too honest sometimes. . . but that makes him my lobster! Hi kids!! Y’all are my BEST taste testers!! Quality control at its finest (all of my cakes are kid-approved)! I have been so blessed. I have a great net, and if I were to fall, getting back up would be the easy part.
