We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Ebisi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, how do you think about risk?
I think about risk taking as partaking in any action or experience that has the ability to unlock a new level, minimize phobias and or change one’s life. I would not say I love taking risks but I believe it is very necessary to take them. It is one way to know you can and have enough capacity for greater things. Risking taking has played a great role in my life since I moved to the US as a result of this. I moved to the US by myself at the very tender age of 16. Not having any physical help or assistance or anybody to help me navigate through life. The first move was to Tennessee and four years later I moved to Texas where my business Stephs Beauty Planet grew so much. Found great people and so far it has been a great place for me. These would not have happened if I did not take risks.
What should our readers know about your business?
Stephs Beauty Planet is currently a leading force in the beauty industry as we offer hair and makeup services by “Defining Beauty From Your Perspective”. My goal is to ensure my clients feel comfortable and confident with how they choose to express beauty.” I first learned how to braid hair when I was a little girl. My older sister Ursla and I would play on dolls’ hair and she eventually taught me how to do three strand individual braids. Whenever my mom would take my older sister and I to the saloon to get our hair done, I would watch. I had no idea I was also learning. Eventually, my mom opened up a saloon in 2013 called Royalty saloon in Lagos Nigeria and I watched her workers as well. I began Stephs beauty planet in 9th grade where I styled and braided my classmates and girls dorm’s hairs every weekend. I had not named it then. I eventually named my brand in 2017 and also opened an Instagram page. It was formally known as Stephs Hair world until I added the makeup aspect of it. Then I changed the name to Stephs beauty planet. I believe my brand is going places. I have put in consistent effort over the years to build a good client base and i have worked with artists, Fashion shows and also Film projects. I believe it’s going to the next level soon. I hope to expand to other states and countries and possibly back home in Nigeria. I am just working and watching to see what God is doing with my brand.
Public Speaking is something I have always had a passion for as I see myself encouraging and teaching friends and people around me even without the mic. By God’s grace, I have been called and sorted after to speak in various events and Organizations and also host online live events as well as red carpet interviews with Eyeconic Television.
One lesson i have learned over the years is ‘keep it up”. Basically, having a goal is one thing and accomplishing it is a different ball game but you can not accomplish it if you do not keep it up regardless of how you feel or the results it is yielding in the moment.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents and siblings have always been a good driving force and positive push for me and have helped me to become the best version of myself in accomplishing my different career goals as well as improving and making businesses out of my talents and of course, there are greater heights to be achieved. My friends have also supported me over the years.
