We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was in the oil and gas industry during covid and when the price of oil tanked. I eventually lost my job. I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I had actually been praying for a few years. “Lord, please show me where I should be and what I should be doing. And please Lord, if it happens to be in the food industry that would be really great too.” I happened to go out to dinner with my girlfriends for a friend’s birthday. I made her some of my toffee, which I had been making for the past 22 years for Christmas gifts. She was so excited and loved it. That dinner began the conversation of, “you should start selling this”! They basically lit the spark I need to take the jump to start Steph’s Toffee Shop.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been a hard worker. Working three jobs when I younger. Director of Circulation for Texas Fish and Game Magazine, and a bartender at the Crocked Ferret and being a Jagerette. I was in outside sales in the oil and gas industry off and on for the past 10 years. I was blessed to be able to be a stay home to three amazing boys. And help run our small pool company. I volunteered at My Body and Soul Ministries and was on the board of directors for the league City Cowboys.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hmmmmm, well I’m a bit of a homebody and love to cook. So most of the time would spent at our home in Friendswood. Some of my favorite restaurants I would take her too would be: Steak 48, Houston
Perry’s Steakhouse, Webster
Killeen’s BBQ, Pearland
Merlions, Seabrook
Oporto, Midtown
Rosewater, Clear Lake (Drinks)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I first and foremost I thank God for everything I have. If it wasn’t for my girlfriends, Julie, Vikki & Melissa, at dinner this dream of mine wouldn’t have began. My husband for all his support, love and building me anything I need for my company. And lastly my kids, Kyle, Zach & Brock, who alway help me set up for shows and always help me.
