We had the good fortune of connecting with Steve Rogers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steve, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Causeplay Alliance Project is a social organization that was created because we noticed that many charitable foundations in Houston pay for characters to come to their events and interact with the children. We believe these organizations deserve to focus their collected finances to tackle the causes they represent and rally for, so we developed a group that volunteers their time to appear at these events free of charge so that these charities can continue to do the amazing work they do in our local community.

Our mission is to empower other to get involved in serving their community, we so happen to do that by “causeplaying” at these charitable events and helping them promote their various causes, but we hope to spark others to get involved and volunteer in their own areas and help one another out in any way they can.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud that the Causeplay Alliance Project has been able to create and maintain a close relationship with the organizations we partner with, and even more than that, a friendship with the children whom we get to interact with on a consistent basis.

We do our best to make it the most magical experience that we can. Often we come into contact with children whose parent(s) cannot afford to take them to themed resorts or amusement parks, and so we make use out of every second we have with a child to immerse them into that magical experience. We believe that kind of positive experience can have long lasting impacts beyond what we may even see in our own lifetimes.

It’s challenging to come in contact with a child who’s battling cancer, knowing they are hurting, or sick, or may not even have a whole lot of time left in their lives. It’s hard to see their parents and their family members suffering, even when we step into the room. We overcome these challenges because we remain humble, and remind ourselves just how important it is for these little ones to experience a bit of escapism from their situation, and to enjoy just being a child again, if even for a moment.

During the pandemic, when we weren’t able to meet in person, we were challenged on how to stay connected with the kids. So we decided to send them videos, sometimes reading storybooks, sometimes just to send a motivational message that was also fun and engaging just to let them know we were all going to make it through this together.

We are volunteers, from all walks of life, and we all have busy schedules. That’s what makes this team even more amazing, because we still find the time, the energy, and the effort to give the best we can regardless of what we may be challenged with in our own lives.

Our hope is that we can be good examples in the community and empower others to get involved or create organizations that are meant to help and foster growth in the lives of these children and their families.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So one of the most exciting things that we love about Houston is it’s diversity, and diversity in just about everything you can think of, from it’s people to it’s restaurants, museums, events, and especially its organizations. There is just so much to get involved with and enjoy.

There are events happening just about every single week all over Houston and so many great causes to get involved with from Kids Meals Inc. to the Houston Food Bank, to the Children’s Musuem, to events hosted by Success on the Spectrum. There are many fun ways to give back to the community and at the same time have some great fun yourself, and the joy of knowing you gave back to such a beautiful, diverse, and unique community.

Of course we do love our Astros as well, so if your in town and can catch a game we highly suggest it as its one the most beautiful ballparks you’ll ever visit!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout first and foremost to our members, for without their volunteer spirit, positive energy, and willingness to come to events bringing their best portrayals of these characters to make a kid’s day special, we wouldn’t have an organization.

Shoutout as well to our leadership team as well, without their guidance, direction, creativity, passion, and love for what we are blessed to do, we wouldn’t have the success we’ve been able to have over the past couple of years connecting with organizations, forming relationships, and presenting ourselves on social media with the clear message that we are here for the kids.
