We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney V Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney V, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I liked the idea of feeling empowered as a successful business woman. It took most of my life to figure out what I want to do with it. When certain things I wanted before didn’t work out, I felt lost. Tried to find success in other things that didn’t inspire me. Which caused me to bounce around and not really accomplish anything. I could tell other people saw me as unproductive, and they didn’t take me seriously. That got me angry. That’s when I decided to fight back! I thought to myself no more will I ever allow people to not take me seriously. Luckily a good idea came to me, and I have been tackling it head first making tremendous progress. Now I know I’ll be a success!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I originally started my business as just a production company. However, My love for metaphysics changed everything. Especially during the big part of the corona virus lockdowns. I felt depression for most of last year. Like a spiritual awakening. I worked through my pain using metaphysical tools such as meditation, reiki, and crystal healing. This gave me the idea to start my own metaphysical web store called “Verucaz.” The production company side of my business will shoot product commercials for my store. Along with that, I am designing a signature candle line for my web store. Candle making is a therapeutic art form that I also very much enjoy. My web store will be up and running within 2 months . Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my friend to downtown Houston to experience the nice restaurants/bars. I also like the Post Oak area near the Galleria. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A shout out to a guardian angel friend of mine, named Tarik Rever. Couldn’t of done all this without the support and encouragement.
