We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydnie Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydnie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For me risk taking has been a key component to my success. The single idea of owning your own business is a risk in itself…but it’s all necessary. Risk taking removes you from your comfort zone. It allows you to grow. Learn things about yourself. Find out just exactly what you are made of. Now by no means does that mean to say that you will succeed each time but it will never be a loss, just something to learn from. A new lesson to apply to the next venture. Starting my business took me stepping out on faith. Relying on myself and God. It’s scary with zero certainty. But that uncertainty is exactly what I needed. It has forced me to work harder than I ever thought I could.and from that I am able to see the fruits of my labor.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My ability to take an idea and bring it to life, exceeding expectation is what sets me apart from others. What I’m most proud of is my work with buttercream. Today I have gotten to where I am by putting myself out there. You can have the best product in the world but if no one knows about it…it’s meaningless. And in no way has it been easy, at least not for me. On a personal level that is. Getting my name out to people has required me to come out of my shell. Talk to people I wouldn’t normally talk to, extend olive branches I wouldn’t normally do. You can’t be introverted trying to market and get your product out there. I’ve had to take the uncomfortable initiative in being open and making myself heard. Overall I want the world to know that I am here, ready to be of service and NO dream is too big.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to visit there are a few key places I’d love to take her. I don’t have many as this city is still very new to me. Though when talking food I have some keys places, 1st place boom Chacos. The food…the nachos, the margaritas will be in the top ranking for me. Then there’s The Turkey Leg Hut. Now I’m not even into any foods that have a bit of a kick or higher but this is where I make the exception. They’re food is mouth watering and the line is ALWAYS worth the wait. Not forgetting also their drinks…amazing but be careful as they will have you on your butt. Next food place would have to be The Breakfast Klub. Chicken and Waffles are literally the best I’ve ever had. As far as hanging out though there’s 2 places I’d feel obligated to take her. Galveston Beach and a night spot called Howl at the Moon. It’s a dueling piano bar! What an amazing experience. Some of the most fun I’ve had since being in Houston.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
1st and foremost always is God as without him nothing is possible. From there the person that deserves the recognition is my husband. He has been my rock through a many of storms, financial advisor, late night grocery runner, delivery driver, salesman and so much more. He is my biggest fan and #1 cheerleader.
